Republican Debate
The Republicans~sans the "front runners"~ debated last night at Morgan State University. The moderator was Tavis Smiley,a panel consisting of Ray Suarez,Cynthia Tucker and Juan Williams posed questions. Now admittedly,I know very little about these men Brownback,Huckabee,Hunter,Keyes,Paul and Tancredo. I now know a bit more. They may not be my Republicans friends first choices, but they did show up~and the four top had their excuse of scheduling conflicts. Ron Paul was the crowd favorite, but I was impressed with Huckabee and Tancredo. I know nothing about either man~so please fill me in. To this early dismiss a "second tier" candidate~in either party~ is a disservice to the American people.Like a woman or a man dating ,one should keep ones options open, till "the one" stands out. Good hunting my fellow Americans. 28 comments from 7 users

Juan Williams reports for National Public Radio. His personal views are very liberal. But still, I like his reports because he's a very bright guy and doesn't miss much. His reports are always good. I just don't agree with a lot of his interpretation of the information that he reports on. Listen to NPR and listen for his reports. He's pretty good. The others, I don't know.

I thought that it was screwed up that several of the candidates didn't show up because they had fund raising events that conflicted. What are we doing, Campaigning for President or Fund raising?

I agree tonyh~ the candidates should have shown up~ I'm almost positive that Baltimore has some rich Republicans that could be" mined" for cash before or after the debate. Brownback is a Senator, Paul,Tancredo, and Hunter are in Congress. Huckabee was a Governor.Keyes was a Congressperson(?) and former Ambassador. By the way Juan Williams is also on Fox News and is their political analyst. posted by

His personal views are very liberal Sure they are. That's why he continues to defend Bill O'Reilly, applauded the Supreme Court overturning parts of Brown vs. Board of Education, criticizes Black leaders and Bush hand-picked him to be interviewed by, right?

That's cool. I'll have to check it out. Like I said, he doesn't miss much. I just can't agree with his interpretation most of the time.

http://www.teamtancredo.com... well there' s always something about a caniadate that rubs me wrong, but still not so bad. http://www.mikehuckabee.com... I can't seem to find a official site for Huckabee, there is this http://profile.myspace.com/... which has a link to his official site. Everybody does have a my space I guess,so maybe I'll keep mine up even though the Stephen Coal Bear was the only reason I had one.. posted by

Besides that, he uses 9-11 as an excuse for everything, including the lame stunt of having his trophy wife call during a speech. He's totally cheezy. I'm surprised more people don't see it. posted by

"I think calling anyone names is out of order in public~you do not." You do not know what I think. To say that is just as insulting as name calling, and to some, nothing more than "little word games". I can appreciate someone attempting to help us "keep it civil", but it sometimes appears to be overlooked more often in relation to swipes from the left. Consistency is key to credibility in this respect. posted by

Frankly, I like the idea of Giuliani winning the nomination. It'll show that we're no longer trying to push government into social issues. posted by

Rudy vs Hillary? David Letterman put it in perspective with this: "You all excited about the 2008 presidential election? There's some interesting potential matchups. For example, Hillary Clinton and Rudy Giuliani. ... On the one hand, you have a pushy New Yorker with a history marital problems. Or, you have a pushy New Yorker with a history marital problems." --David Letterman posted by
