Elemental Disruption

"Most people go through life dreading they'll have a traumatic experience. Freaks were born with their trauma. They've already passed their test in life. They're aristocrats." Diane Arbus

My life seems to operate sideways~ backwards almost~ and I have come to see thats right for me. A rain of snakes, disruption that cause's growth ,the world split in two.Everyone has there own path, mine has been one of thought, mostly of things folks today seem to disregard. Truth, personal integrity,politeness,...not all eschew these things. For me its been the easiest way to be~ any other way leads me to more trouble..and a sense of humor, above all about myself. Laughter keeps a person sane, and I enjoy seeing the coyote in myself~ the eternal trickster

I don't know if it was mentioned that Tony Hillerman passed earlier this week also.  I love his mysteries set on and around the Navajo Indian Reservation and four corners area.  Does that "rule of three" thing work for just authors or movie actors, or is it for all celebrities?

NO, NO, NO.  Say it ain't so!  I'm a Jim Chee, Joe Leaphorn fan from way back!  A few years ago, we took a vacation to some of the sites often mentioned in Tony Hillerman's books.  What a great time!  I've been looking forward to his next book.  May he rest in peace.

They say it comes in three's ~ Tony Hillerman was 85 ,Studs was 96...if another has to go let's  hope it is an author of that age.

OH GOD! Studs Terkel too?  He was another hero of mine.

I'm another Hillerman fan.  In fact, I'm reading "Sinister Pig" right now.  Hillerman, Agatha Christie and Jane Austen are my all time favorite authors.  I was mourning Hillerman last week.  He grew up in a tiny town in Oklahoma--probably explains the plain-spokenness of his novels that I like so much.  Joe Leaphorn and Jim Chee are great characters.

DG--Another thing we have in common--your avatar has been on my fridge for years as a refrigerator magnet.  It cracks me up every time I see it.

Goodbye Studs,

Your book Hard Times is still in the top 3 of my personal library.

Thank you

I heard about Michael Crichton earlier today.  He and Tony Hillerman were on the top of my guilty pleasures list.  I got advanced notices when they were releasing a new book.  I've been reading allot of Edward Rutherfurd lately and while on vacation I read a wonderful first novel by Dave Boling called Guernica.  But I will miss my Tony Hillerman and Michael Crichton novels.  I guess it's good bye forever to Jim Chee, Joe Leaphorn and the Navajo Tribal Police.
