Thanks for the links SF~ that is really interesting! Encouraging too~ we can apparently hold "our truth" and allow others to hold theirs in increasing numbers.

Yes I saw that, not as dogmatic as some would think. I thought both were a good read.

The results are interesting, for sure.  But, I do take issue with the way they worded one of the questions for defining your spirituality: "Are you aboslutely certain God does not exist?"  Well, even as an atheist I would have to answer that one with a "no". You can't disprove a negative.  It's too much like someone claiming 89% of people believe in Leprachauns because they didn't answer "I am absolutely sure there are no Leprachauns."  The question doesn't give enough room for those who can never be certain, but still don't belief based on available evidence.

I'm also shocked at the breakdown.  The US Census says the atheist population is about 10-15%.  This survey says it's 5% (with a standard deviation of +/-3% (I had to dig, dig, dig to find the complete survey with it's parameters and statistical methods).  It does reflect the interesting, and oft observed, data that shows there are fewers Jews than Atheists in this country.  Thanks for the link!
