Kissinger wasted no time in clarifying his position.  This was a major blunder and it made Obama look pretty ridiculous.  I don't think he'll be putting words in Kissinger's mouth or speaking on Kissinger's behalf any time soon.

Kissinger has valid points..Nobama is just showing his arrogance too even consider tring this type of negotiation..if it fails what then??

Will  he blowup his muslim brethern in the middle east or better yet will he allow them to blow us up?? I dont trust anyone with a pie in the sky attitude when things could radiically change in a matter of hours..it just shows his lack of intelligence when it comes to foreign affairs..hay but wait Biden will save us with all his suave...

Kissinger is a hardcore globalist criminal. He openly calls for a New World Order. I mean i could go on for days about this demon.

Thanks for the links info..shows even at his age hes thinking lite years ahead of other people..

BUT we are here to discuss the fact Obama strayed from the truth...

Actually he is not thinking light years ahead of others. The concept of a New World order is nothing new.

Im sorry i wasnt insinuating NWO was new..

However I dont see it happening in our lifetime but its a distinct possibility down the road if and when it comes down to the survival of mankind....hell man haven't you ever watched star trek

Both men apparently respected Kissinger enough to use him as a source.  The problem is, McCain representing Kissinger's position, and Obama misrepresented it.

Is this the best you got? LOL!

During the debate Obama said, "Senator McCain mentioned Henry Kissinger, who's one of his advisers, who, along with five recent secretaries of state, just said that we should meet with Iran -- guess what -- without precondition. This is one of your own advisers," and, "When we talk about preconditions -- and Henry Kissinger did say we should have contacts without preconditions -- the idea is that we do not expect to solve every problem before we initiate talks." During the debate, McCain repeatedly purported to correct Obama by saying Kissinger would not support presidential-level talks with Iran's Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. Each time, Obama made clear that was not his contention -- that, instead, he was accurately saying Kissinger supported talks between the United States and Iran at levels below the president.

Obama said nothing about "presidential-level talks", McSame is the one who brought it up.

Asked by CNN's Frank Sesno, "To put at a very high level right out of the box?" Kissinger responded:

Initially, yes. And I always believed that the best way to begin a negotiation is to tell the other side exactly what you have in mind and what you are -- what the outcome is that you're trying to achieve so that they have something that they can react to.

Now, the permanent members of the Security Council, plus Japan and Germany, have all said nuclear weapons in Iran are unacceptable. They've never explained what they mean by this. So if we go into a negotiation, we ought to have a clear understanding of what is it we're trying to prevent. What is it going to do if we can't achieve what we're talking about?

But I do not believe that we can make conditions for the opening of negotiations. We ought, however, to be very clear about the content of negotiations and work it out with other countries and with our own government.

..IF you watched the video he had every chance to clarify it should be handled on a lower level prior to the President stepping in..and agree with McCain and Kissinger..HE DID NOT...

Hes a Glory Hound with no experience and he just proved it at the debate..He seriously needs a leash

Every four years they drag out old Kissinger, dust him off and give him 5 more minutes of fame.  Are we done with him for this year?

IF you watched the video he had every chance to clarify it should be handled on a lower level prior to the President stepping in.

The video provided doesn't tell the whole story, as you well know.

During the debate, McCain repeatedly purported to correct Obama by saying Kissinger would not support presidential-level talks with Iran's Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. Each time, Obama made clear that was not his contention -- that, instead, he was accurately saying Kissinger supported talks between the United States and Iran at levels below the president.

I guess he just didn't clarify it enough for souxcity. I'm just glad that when Obama went into the meeting with Bush, McCain and the congressional leaders he didn't just sit on his hands like McCain did. Heck ol' John couldn't even tell anyone what he supported. Now he's gone ahead and claimed that because of his leadership the bill passed. Oh wait, no it didn't.

I feel embarrassed for the guy personally. Things couldn't be going any worse for the McCain campaign right now.

AudreyB, The dusting him off comment cracked me up. That is how I feel about our politicians. They will listen to us til their ears turn blue when running for election, but once they get in there, they can't be bothered by us little folk. When it is time for re-election, there we go again. When will we the voters learn?

OK TSM I reviewed the video on this particular debate and your right for once..Nobama did mention he wasnt implying that..however..lets go back alittle further

heck proam they dust off their peanut farmer every year or so for a big group laugh....atleast Kissinger has alot of peoples respect for what hes done in the past..some of you seem to have forgotten that...In fact I'm sure both candidates share the same respect for Henry..they showed it on the tapes..not surprised the Nobama voters have an outlook like they do..they all suffer from tunnel vision .. it strikes like a good old huntin dog and nothing will get in their way until they tree or kill their target..

posted by randomfactor on Sep 29, 2008 at 04:25 PM

The peanut farmer's making more and more sense everyday. Of course, he was saying the same things thirty years ago, but it's a cardinal sin in politics  to be right too soon.

I have nothing but contempt for Kissinger.

posted by siouxcityranch on Sep 29, 2008 at 07:08 PM

why did he cause you some personal grief in the past?? To me thats the only way contempt would be applicable here..

Really? Seen the polls for the swing states? Most are dead even. Obama needs between six to eight points in each to offset the negative effect his blackness will have on voters.
