There's no conspiracy behind delay in publishing letter to the editor
Reader: The liberal rag Californian would have you believe that only the news stories they pick, and only the news comments and letters to the editor that they endorse or pick to be published are the only important newsworthy stories.

It is important to note that since I wrote my letter to the editor, this rag has published no less than four news stories that are DIRECTLY related to the news story that I wrote my letter to the editor story on.

And yet my letter to the editor doesn’t ever get published? Is it because my letter is not well written? Or is it because my letter doesn’t make sense?

No, it is simply because I believe The Californian wants the half-cent sales tax measure to pass. They have clearly shown its bias and lack of objectivity. It has been pretty clear in the garbage that you are producing under the disguise of editorials, that are really not editorials at all, just more garbage and lies concerning attempts to tax us all!  Vote No on the half-cent sales tax measure!
—Joseph L. Doty

Managing Editor Logan Molen: Whoa, Joseph. Chill.

Editorial Page Editor Dianne Hardisty responds:
“Joseph L. Doty’s letter has been processed and is awaiting publication. He submitted his letter on June 11. Because of a backlog of letters awaiting publication and the volume of letters The Californian receives each day, it may take a couple of weeks between submission and publication.

“If writers have questions about the status of their letters, they are invited to email opinion@bakersfield.com or call 395-7414. Opinion section staff will be happy to check on the status of a letter. With so many letters arriving by email, technical difficulties also may result in a missed letter. If you have not seen your letter published within two or three weeks of being submitted, you may wish to check on the status.”

Jeez, what a whiner! If Joe gets his panties all wadded-up over a letter-to-the-editor not getting printed, you gotta wonder what kind of hissy-fit he throws over the everyday minor frustrations.

"I'm being repressed!"
