Video rental pricing, good for Blockbuster
I'm not a customer of Blockbuster videos, but I may soon be. I've long thought that videos should be priced by the number of days you have them, not the $4-plus charge for four days. I typically watch a movie the night I rent it and am ready to take it back the next day. So Blockbuster is trying a plan for $2 per day on new releases and $1 a day for old releases. Hollywood Video and Movie Gallery should take note.

why not just a flat fee such as what netflix offers? with Netflix you can have anywhere from 1 to 7 movies in your home for a set price, when you done watching return and another movie will be sent to you, usually w/in a day or two. Netflix doesnt have late charges or charges per day. posted by

Because Blockbuster's business model is to make their profit off the late fees rather than the initial rental. posted by

Blockbuster's business model is to make their profit off the late fees They don't call them "late fees", they call them "restocking fees".

FYI, Tiffani: Steve is the guy who was running the blogs before they created this new format, so I'm sure he probably knows there is another blog post. If not, so what? He works for The Californian, so he can do whatever he wants to do. Right, Steve? Ha ha. The blogs are here for people to post personal opinions, are they not? If he wants to post his personal opinion about Blockbuster's price changes, he should be allowed to do so, and he did.
