The reason I ask this question is while my bride and I were fishing last week at Saddlebag Lake more than 10,000 feet high at the backdoor to Yosemite, we saw a bald eagle circling overhead, dive down to the water and snatch a fish with its talons.
In June, when I got married to my sweetheart on a cruise to Alaska, we regularly saw bald eagles, but I was under the impression they weren't as far south as California. Yet, the owner of the Saddlebag resort said there are three bald eagles at Saddlebag and they've been there for about nine years. I've been going up to the Mammoth Area every October for the last 21 years and that is the first time I've seen any. How about you? And if you tell me you've seen some at the Bena landfill, I won't believe you.
I've been on vacation for the last 10 days. I was pleased this morning to check on the blogs and see that many of you covered subjects I would have blogged.
We had a great trip. 5 days at Mammoth Lakes where for the first time we rented a trailer to camp in. Very handy having that bathroom 12 feet away. Then we went to Klamath Falls to see my son and to visit Crater Lake. What a magnificent resource. Once again restored my faith in Teddy Roosevelt. Hopefully before the end of the day, I'll get back in the swing of things. |
