The way things used to work (i.e. "pre-9/11 mentality"): ![]() The way things work now (at least, according to the Vice President):

I'd love to see this corrupt SOB fleeing from some Florida airport in the dead of night to beat an arrest warrant, intending to fly to a non-extradition country. Love it doubly if the pilot is a true patriot that would fly his butt straight to DC and have him dragged screaming from the plane like one of those internet gambling site owners when they land on US soil. Love it triply if the arresting FBI officers "accidentally" tripped him at the top of a flight of stairs. Only hitch would be a friendly prison guard to slip him a "black pill" like Goring. Hell, they could even copy much of Goring's judgement. Last sentences: "There is nothing to be said in mitigation... His guilt is unique in its enormity. The record discloses no excuses for this man" posted by

George W. Bush falls below Jimmy Carter's lowest approval point in latest Newsweek poll. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id... . 26%. (Of course, that's higher than Congress' rating at the moment...) posted by

Did you see Cheney decided the Records Act doesn't apply to his office? Cheney decided the Vice President's office doesn't fall under the Executive Branch. Which also means Cheney can't use executive privilege as an excuse. I hope it comes back and bites him in the ass. posted by

Justice might also rope-a-dope any cases Congress hands them because of the (R) "plants". Justice might take a decade or more to recover. This will be one of Dubbya's highest crimes in the eyes of history. Bush's veto yesterday was a travesty. Congress needs to hammer on him for that crap, and each and every (R) that doesn't vote to override. Funny that Cheney doesn't think that law applies, but the "Executive Privilege" does....... He needs to be dragged into court faster than Rove. posted by

Mattloch, the ShrubCheney strategy is simply to run out the clock. It has a good chance of working, too, but I think the hearings will boost Democrats' chances in '08. Subpoenas won't do all that much to help convict, I fear. That's why BushRove poisoned the Justice Department. . Bush is set to use his veto (which he didn't use at *ALL* with Republican pork) against half-a-dozen bills in the near future, in order to stir up the Congress. The Republican minority is all for it, as they don't really care about running the country. . Did you see Cheney decided the Records Act doesn't apply to his office? posted by

We can dream. But I'm afraid only in our dreams.
