Arrest made in Jon Benet case
Well it only took ten years but they have finally arrested someone in connection with the death of Jon Benet Ramsey.
For those of you who have been visiting another planet for the past decade, here is a good summary of the case on CNN.com. Actually, here is an even better summary from CourtTV. So folks, what do you think? I for one never thought there would an arrest in this case. And after all these years you've got to wonder if they'll make the charges stick. 31 comments from 15 users

It's one more piece of filth off the streets if proved true. It's also a prime example of how cases tried in the media can cause major problems with finding the truth. Can you imagine what horrors the family has gone through? First to loose their baby, then to have themselves named as suspects? I truly feel for the family. It's sad that Mrs. Ramsey would not live long enough to see this day.
I'm curious as to why you think making the charges stick has anything to do with the time lapse? Cold cases are solved every day. Evidence is evidence. If they have it and can tie this man to it along with the "alleged" statements he made then it does not matter if it was yesterday or 3 decades ago. Thank God for the perseverance of this D.A. How refreshing to have a D.A. seemingly without ulterior motives other than finding the truth and extracting justice. I wonder what that is like? posted by

The suspect's ex-wife says she was with him in another state when JonBenet was killed, and that he was obsessed with reading about JonBenet and Polly Klaas, the Petaluma girl who was abducted and slain in 1993. I worry when an ex-wife is an alibi witness. I confess that when I heard there was an arrest in this case, my first response was, "The father?" I would like it not to be the father but this case is about as weird as it gets in a homicide investigation. posted by

WSJ, I'm curious you base your theory about the mother and the "cleaner" on what?

If Karr proves to be that someone looking for 15 mins. of fame then an intruder, if still alive, remains on the loose. The Ramseys have been unjustly accused, vilified and crucified. Their only "crime" was being too social, too friendly and too trusting of people they met. Is it possible the intruder was present in the house more than once and this accounts for the length of the ransom note plus the use of Ramsey household writing paper?

"He is just about to be arrest in Thailand" is kind of late the 24/7 media already has him hung, so why waste a trial?

I,am just a person who feels , the Ramseys should have never been put though all the pain.
I also believe that they have the right man, from what he has siad. There are things that he has said that seems to be unknown to the investgaters. posted by

Leave it to Mocus to insinuate that Nancy Disgrace is a liberal. I don't think I've EVER saw her call someone innocent .
She always has that disgusted "who just passed gas look" on her face. posted by

I'm not so sure they have the right guy. Not that he's not guilty of some crimes, just maybe not this one. It would be nice for the family to get some closure.

Uh Oh. It's beginning to look as though Mr. High Pockets may be just a common, garden variety nut.

. Where's Mocus when you need him? How about it, Moc? What do you have to say about "beauty pageant" parents? I know this guy (the person who admitted it, not Mocus) is turning out to be an unstable wingnut, but what about the "larger picture" here? posted by

As for the supposed killer..I agree that he's a graden variety nut job. He said he drugged her but no drugs were found in her system. He said he raped her but the report I heard today said she hadn't been raped. Anyone hear any other stories? Again...like Will Rogers said "I only know what I read in the papers." posted by

I agree, the guy looks like your garden variety nut case looking for his 15 minutes of fame. It's going to be interesting to see how it plays out. I always thought the Ramsey's were hiding something, but never had a real idea of what it was. At first I thought they were protecting their son. It seemed reasonable that since they'd lost one child they would try to save the other. But the DNA in JonBenet's panties would rule out a family member without the family giving DNA samples. They had JonBenet's DNA. So beyond that I'm perplexed.

The thought around this house was that he must have done something really terrible for her to have such hard feelings and for her not to want him around their kids unsupervised AND to make her feelings publically known. I can't know since I wasn't there but I've had doubts about his being "the one" since this whole thing broke. It just doesn't sit right with me. Somethings off kilter here. We may never know the truth. posted by

Odd that this brings back the Lindburg baby kidnapping case to my mind. There are people to this day who don't believe Hauptman actually did the kidnapping and killing. There are people who still believe the Lindburgs were somehow involved. Another case of we may never, or most likely will never, know. Unless there is a clear cut conviction, people will always wonder. posted by

Beacause this guy was married twice, that makes him a molester, well from Reagan to Gingrich, they must all be molesters.

At one point in the interview on TV he said he didn't want to go into the details until he had time. That struck me as one who wants to draw out the noteriety as long as possible. posted by

At first thought I believe the guy just wanted to get the hell outta Thailand for his crimes there. But as Warren pointed out, the SBTC thing has turned me around. If it's true, that coincidence is highly unlikely.
