The Titanic was real, so must "The Lost Tomb of Jesus" which includes Jesus, the Biblical Savior of the world; his wife, Mary Magdeline, and their son Judah, also be real?
Where does that question come from?
James Cameron, the filmmaker who explored the wreck of the Titanic and directed an Oscar-winning feature film based on its sinking, is the executive producer of a documentary based on the Jesus-was-married-and-had-a-kid theme.
The theme is based on six ossuaries, or...
Government! What's with those guys?
Seems that some Maryland polititian wants to ban fake bull testicles and other anatomically explicit decorations from vehicles.
The measure was filed in the General Assembly by Delegate LeRoy E. Myers Jr., who says children shouldn’t be exposed to giant plastic gonads dangling from pickup truck trailer hitches, Associated Press reported.
In a sneaky attempt to get women on his side, the bill would ban displaying images of naked...
Would you like to fly to Sacramento?
Our state government is based in Sacramento, which may or may not be a reason to go there.
But they have a couple cool rivers in the town. It's the gateway to Tahoe and Reno. And you might know some nice people up that way.
Reason we ask is Meadows Field would like to know if there is enough demand so that ExpressJet Airlines, which just started selling tickets for San Diego flights, could add a flight to Sacramento.
Business or government...
Apparently that crackpot that works near you really should be reported.
A story by Dana Knight of the Indianapolis Star describes warning signs of people at work who may, as happened in her city, start shooting at people.
Here are some of the things to watch out for:
• Attitude or mood suddenly changes.
• Begins making indirect threats. (For example, an employee tells co-worker he'll be waiting for him when he leaves work today.)
• Loud outbursts, attention-getting...
The thing about China is if they have a problem, the government comes down on it hard.
A growing problem has been young people becoming addicted to the Internet.
The solution? Lock'em up and electro shock them once in a while as a little aversion therapy.
China is apparently pretty good at suppressing bad behavior — having too many kids (more than one), and drug and alcohol addiction. Their methods by regular people standards seem harsh.
The government already suppresses a...
Prince Harry, third in line to the English throne, will go to Iraq in a couple months to help fight the war.
One blog poster asked, "Does this mean the Bush twins are next?"
Probably not, but it does mean I have a lot more respect for British royalty than I did after watching "Queen."
Would this work in America — to have the sons and daughters of our nation's leaders actually go fight a war the leaders authorized and funded?

Reporter Maureen Milford of The Wilmington News Journal wrote a story about backstabbing in the work place.
Where else would you do it except at a crime scene?
The story suggested it is on the rise.
It would be a lie to say we don't have backstabbing at The Californian. As the union president here, I hear about it on a somewhat regular basis.
But having said that, this newspaper as much less than other places where I have worked. I've seen veritable backstabbing frenzies.
The...
We've all heard about the ash-dropping scandals, where a company will claim to drop ashes over the oceon and then just let them pile up in a garage somewhere.
But what about lost cremains? Burials in the wrong plot, or even without telling a family the burial has taken place? Body swaps?
Anyone have a funeral horror story?
The topic came up in an editors meeting this morning, and we thought we'd see if any bloggers had personal experiences to share. Yeah, it's a little morbid. But...
When it comes to sex, old people have been left out.
Not about doing it, but about learning about it.
And that's why the fastest growing segment of the population to get sexually transmitted diseases are people over 45. And people in their 70s and 80s need to be brought up to speed on what's happening out their in the world of intimacy. And how it relates to their late life health issues.
Therefore, teachers are going to assisted living homes to promote safe sex practices.
Some...
A new study shows that some patients aren't being advised of legal treatment options because their doctors keep secret options they are morally against.
In some cases, doctors won't refer patients to another provider who could provide the service.
Gee, what would Dr. McDreamy do?
A Washington Post story says,
"In the survey of 1,144 doctors nationwide, 8 percent said they had no obligation to present all possible options to patients, and 18 percent said they did not...
Seems that gay rights groups were successful in getting candymaker Mars Inc. to pull the Snickers ad that showed two men accidentally kissing as the made their way through a Snickers bar, and then pulled their chest hair out to do something "manly."
The ad was shown during the Super Bowl.
Three gay rights organizations condemned the commercial as homophobic, arguing that the men's reaction (they tear out their chest hair to prove they're really "manly") demeans gay...
When you get in a stressful situation, your training kicks in.
I'm thinking U.S. Navy Capt. Lisa Nowak, 43, a NASA astronaut, was a bit stressed Monday as she drove 900 miles from her family home (husband and three kids) in Houston to Orlando, Fla. where was was going to confront a woman who was sweet on Navy Cmdr. William Orefelein.
Well, the things we learn in these stories. Seems that astronauts wear diapers on those long space missions where restrooms aren't always handy and...
While some people are comfortable being gay, the evangelical minister Ted Haggard didn't feel his gay tendencies were a good fit.
Dallying with a gay prostitute for three years just didn't look good on Haggard's resume, what with being the former senior pastor of the New Life Church and the president of the National Association of Evangelicals.
So Haggard went though three weeks of "intensive counseling," and now has emerged "completely heterosexual" which of...
Tony Dungy, you just won the Super Bowl, where are you going to go?
He might have replied, "Church."
Much was made of the fact that Indianapolis Colts coach Dungy and Chicago Bears coach Lovie Smith were the first African-American coaches to reach the Super Bowl.
Asked about being the first African-American coach to win, Dungy said,
"I'm proud to be the first African-American coach to win this. But again, more than anything, Lovie Smith and I are not only...
It's hard for me to wrap my mind around $2.9 trillion.
The number looks like this: $2,900,000,000,000.
I'd think you could do a lot with that much money, but apparently you can't pay for what it costs to run the country.
President Bush's plan is to have a budget surplus by 2012, but in fiscal 2008, the shortfall would be about $239 billion. That's about 8.2 percent off the mark.
I think if I'm 8.2 percent off my budget, I'm looking for a bankruptcy attorney. But the...
Okay, so California isn't the only state with wacky legislators.
One California Democrat wants to ban spanking while another wants to make everyone buy energy efficient light bulbs.
But in Texas, a Republican legislator wants to make it a criminal offense with a $500 fine if a parent doesn't keep a scheduled meeting with a teacher. It would be a class C misdemeanor.
The Dallas Morning News reported Republican Rep. Wayne Smith said it is time for the state to crack down on...
Apparently, people fall for this stuff.
A place called Yelo in Manhattan rents private chambers so people can take a 20- to 40 minute nap. Clients may pay $12 to $65 or more (the higher price experience comes with hand and foot massages to lull the body to sleep) for this power nap.
A New York Times story by Natasha Singer suggests these sleep centers will open "in every crazy low-quality-of-life city where people lack space," according to Yelo owner, Nicolas Ronco.
