IT IS NOT GEORGE CARLIN

(Now I KNOW he did not write this, it was sent to me as-is :0) )

*****

What a difference a sad event in someone's life makes.

GEORGE CARLIN (His wife recently died...)

        & nbsp;       &n bsp;

Isn't it amazing that George Carlin - comedian of the 70's and 80's - could write something so very eloquent...and so very appropriate.

    A Message by George Carlin:

The paradox of our time in history is that we have taller buildings but shorter tempers, wider Freeways, but narrower viewpoints. We spend more, but have less, we buy more, but enjoy less. We have bigger houses and smaller families, more conveniences, but less time. We have more degrees but less sense, more knowledge, but less judgment, more experts, yet more problems, more medicine, but less wellness.

We drink too much, smoke too much, spend too recklessly, laugh too little, drive too fast, get too angry, stay up too late, get up too tired, read too little, watch TV too much, and pray too seldom.

We have multiplied our possessions, but reduced our values. We talk too much, love too seldom, and hate too often.

We've learned how to make a living, but not a life. We've added years to life not life to years. We've been all the way to the moon and back, but have trouble crossing the street to meet a new neighbor. We conquered outer space but not inner space. We've done larger things, but not better things.

We've cleaned up the air, but polluted the soul. We've conquered the atom, but not our prejudice. We write more, but learn less. We plan more, but accomplish less. We've learned to rush, but not to wait. We build more computers to hold more information, to produce more copies than ever, but we communicate less and less.

These are the times of fast foods and slow digestion, big men and small character, steep profits and shallow relationships. These are the days of two incomes but mor e divorce, fancier houses, but broken homes. These are days of quick trips, disposable diapers, throwaway morality, one night stands, overweight bodies, and pills that do everything from cheer, to quiet, to kill. It is a time when there is much in the showroom window and nothing in the stockroom. A time when technology can bring this letter to you, and a time when you can choose either to share this insight, or to just hit delete...

Remember; spend some time with your loved ones, because they are not going to be around forever.

Remember, say a kind word to someone who looks up to you in awe, because that little person soon will grow up and leave your side.

Remember, to give a warm hug to the one next to you, because that is the only treasure you can give with your heart and it doesn't cost a cent.

Remember, to say, "I love you" to your partner and your loved ones, but most of all mean it. A kiss and an embrace will mend hurt when it comes from deep ins ide of you.

Remember to hold hands and cherish the moment for someday that person will not be there again.

Give time to love, give time to speak! And give time to share the precious thoughts in your mind.

AND ALWAYS REMEMBER:

Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.

If you don't send this to at least 8 people....Who cares?

He didn't.  Nor did a kid who watched the Columbine shootings.  I wish I could reproduce Carlin's reaction to the hoax, you'll find it at

PS--check out why the *TRUE* author isn't associated with his church anymore, at the link above.  Now re-read it and ask how valuable his insight might be.

Carlinish style. Dead give-aways it wasn't Carlin:

And no cussing.

This could be like the "Robin Williams" apocryphal post that went around.

I listened to George on a radio talk show the other day and his is now just a cynical little old man.

Sad really as in his day, from the "Hippy Dippy Mailman" to his standup routines, he was the best!

He is now just a shell of his former self. Still kinda funny, but more just cynical.

Oh well, he's old and old fashioned in his ways just like me. Just down a different  fork in the road..........

Well, I wasn't sure.

But I liked the message :-(

Especially no cussing.  If the paper has gone one for at least three paragraphs and he hasn't used one of the Heavy Seven, it ain't Real Carlin.

.

Oh, and Carlin is *MUCH* more cynical today--less funny, IMHO, but he reached his peak explaining our "exit strategy" for Vietnam. "We're leaving through Laos, Cambodia and Thailand..."

.

Ah, the good old days--when we were engaged in an unwinnable war for dubious reasons and had no idea how to get free.

yeah Robb

Didn't sound like Carlin to me

Like the Robin Williams email of a few years ago.................

There have been all kinds of lists going around the internet for years and each attributed to one celebrity or another.  (Carlin, Rooney etc) Instead of thinking it could stand on it's own merits, people seem to feel if a they say celebrity said it, it would lend more validity and folks would believe it must be true.  Too bad they don't take credit for their own words because a lot of it is good advice.

Tina..just a hint.  ALWAYS run stuff like that by www.snopes.com.  It's a pretty good source for internet hoaxes and such.  I got one, again, the other day for little Amy Bruce who is dying of lung cancer and involved with make a wish and so on.  Seems it's another hoax.  You were smart to let people know at the top that you weren't sure.

In my business we use "appeared" and "seemed" a lot..keeps egg off our faces....LOL.

The true author was Dr. Bob Moorehead, former pastor of Seattle's Overlake Christian Church.

Seventeen members of Moorehead's church have accused him of sexual assault. They were underaged males.

He resigned soon after the allegations were made. An internal investigation by the church concluded he had indeed molested the members.
