Well while tinkering with ideas, of how both sides of the whole same sex marriage ideas fight like rabid wolves. I thought to my self, both sides fight like children over a toy, neither side willing to concede anything. I was reminded of what was done to me as a child when my brother and I fought over something.......it was taken away

I wonder, does the government have to use the word MARRIAGE? Perhaps, anyone who wants to get married should have a "civil union" regardless of sex. That way, everyone has the same "contract". If I opt to get married, it should be purely ceremonial and by a church.

If we remove the word marriage from the states, would the problem be solved? would Christians stop their "crusade"?Will the same sex supporters be happy, being finally equal as everyone else? I hope I'm communicating my idea across well, hopefully we can have a lively discussion.

Well again with the Christmas holiday looming, I'm stirred to write once more. Today I'm choosing an interesting topic, hopefully start to get some minds thinking on way or the other. The topic is whether I should or should not (as an atheist) teach my children about Santa Claus. This is a two sided question that I posed to my self. Someone such as my self claims to not believe in the supernatural, why would I teach my children about a supernatural being like Santa claus, who can travel around the world in one night, and deliver presents to all the good boys and girls. I have decide to indeed teach them about the jolly old man. Why not about God or other religions? I though it might be an interesting venue to discuss my thoughts, and everyone Else's on the issue.

I have chosen to teach my children about Santa Claus. My main reason is that I believe that it holds a special place in a child's heart to believe (for a little while) that simply for once a year, your wish can come true. As I kid I believed in the jolly fat man. It infused Christmas with a magical ambiance, that to this day, makes me hold that holiday as my favorite. Personally I wouldn't want my children to miss out on that naive, innocent, and wonderful time in their life. Eventually there will be a time when I'll tell them the truth.

The difference I see between Santa, and God is that (In my humble opinion) Santa is meant to be outgrown, God is meant to control and individual to follow a set of rules or and Ideology. I see no reason to teach my children about the bible, the Koran, or any other religious book. Maybe ill introduce to them Pale Blue Dot by Carl Sagan, or The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, (some of my favorite books).

In my thoughts, I don't see a problem with believing in Santa. Hopefully they'll look back and think like I have, that me believing in the supernatural for a little while brought good memories I'm glad my parents did what they did. You only live once as I always say, lol. See ya, and remember be skeptical!
