 Hey folks...

Been a couple of weeks since I posted but I didn't really have much to say about the going-ons of the last two weeks.  Fortunately, no local senior citizen threatened the president's life over the past couple of weeks, and I've about given up on my Raiders-they just aren't worth discussing anymore.  But the thing that caught my attention today:

"And the crowd goes wild."  Wow...was Garth Brooks at Rabobank?  Did BC just beat Taft College in the Potato Bowl?  Did the Lakers come back to Bakersfield for a preseason game?  No..no....none of those.  We went wild for the opening of the new Wal-Mart.

How embarrassing.  Let's go nuts because we can now buy groceries at cut throat pricing while we shop for other household items. Who cares if the average Wal-Mart full time employee earns annual wages well below the national poverty line, and has no health insurance.  We want those slashed prices.  Who cares if the Albertsons, Rite-Aid, Walgreens. Kragen, and other stores nearby begin closing down one by one, leaving half of Panama Lane's commercial real estate vacant.  All we really need is a big ass Wal Mart right.

Bakersfield further cements its negative image.  We are a Wal Mart town. Happy shopping.

So after a nice dinner at Rio Bravo Resort, Mr. Sekeres and his wife, and a few other old, conservative couples are engaging in after-dinner conversation at their table when Bill blurts out something about taking out the president and Nancy Pelosi.  He says he meant it in jest, and can't believe he's been taken seriously enough to be questioned by the secret service.

QUOTE FROM CALIFORNIAN ARTICLE:Sekeres said it's "ridiculous" to imagine that he could be capable of posing a serious threat against two highly placed political figures. "How stupid to think that at my age, I could do something like that," he said. "What kind of place are we living in?

LOL.  Memo to the old senile fart: How stupid of you to joke about killing the president of the United States and the speaker of the house of reps.  He goes on to say that the fact that he got a visit from the secret service is evidence that things are going the wrong way.  Hasn't his big mouth caused enough trouble?  Learn to shut up already-it is you who made the mistake, Mr. Sekeres. It's not he made the comment in the privacy of his bedroom; he made it in a public place where others obviously heard.  You just can't do that.

Sekeres said he qualified his comments by saying he would only do that if he were to ever get a terminal disease.  Now i would never wish that sort of thing on anyone, but the fact is, at his age (73) there's a higher likelihood of him getting some kind of terminal illness than the general population. God forbid it happen, but are the odds really that much of a longshot?

People are amazing. Admit you screwed up and move on, Bill.

In recent years, I have heard more and more Raider fans say how Al Davis needs to go (or die) in order for the Raiders to improve.  Now I have always been from the school of thought that says it is impossible to be a Raider fan without being an Al Davis fan, since the two are essentially the same thing.  But never have I seen my beloved Raiders look as lost as they do this year (yes, that includes the year of the Bed N Breakfast offense).

Are Jamarcus Russell, McFadden both busts ÉÉÉÉ

The jury is still out on the oft-injured McFadden, but it seems like there is no hope left for Russell.

NOTE: I somehow switched the settings of my keyboard to some weird setting, thus some of my punctuation isnèt working correctly, hence the errors.  My apologies.
