The Raiders are horrible!
In recent years, I have heard more and more Raider fans say how Al Davis needs to go (or die) in order for the Raiders to improve. Now I have always been from the school of thought that says it is impossible to be a Raider fan without being an Al Davis fan, since the two are essentially the same thing. But never have I seen my beloved Raiders look as lost as they do this year (yes, that includes the year of the Bed N Breakfast offense). Are Jamarcus Russell, McFadden both busts ÉÉÉÉ The jury is still out on the oft-injured McFadden, but it seems like there is no hope left for Russell. NOTE: I somehow switched the settings of my keyboard to some weird setting, thus some of my punctuation isnèt working correctly, hence the errors. My apologies. 31 comments from 12 users

Their performance was nothing short of embarrassing...MAJOR restructuring is needed before next season...but until then, they better get use to taking it in the rear on national t.v.---

Son's been a Raiders fan most of his life. He wrote a blog once about how he finally gave up on them and was switching allegiance. The other day a family member said "so, you're not a Raiders fan any more?" Son replied mumbling.."well, yeah I am." I guess if you're a true fan you'll stick through thin and thin. posted by

I'm currently in India, visiting here until December. I'm so addicted to the PITIFUL Raiders that I have my cousin who lives in the Bay Area somehow direct the live Raiders broadcast over the internet so that I can view the games live..so last night I stayed up from 11:00 pm until 2:00am to watch that sorry showing. For home games, I'll have to stay up from 2:00am until 5:00am to watch them play, although most of the games won't sellout, and thus will be blacked out in the Bay Area, subsequently for me also. It's bad this year, really bad. posted by

Hey don't feel so bad thirtysomething I'm a hard core Niner fan, I even have the Niners logo tattoo on my upper arm so I'm a true fan no matter how sorry we get. Well if you watched our game yesterday and saw the score in the end than you know that we didn't do any better than the raiders. At least the Raiders got killed by a really good team. We also got beaten by a good team as well but that's no exuse, we played just like the Raiders have been playing and it was just embarassing. Our quarterback was just throwing the ball out of bounds and missing recievers left and right and our running back was just awful. But the good news is we have a bye this week so we can look at all of our mistakes that we made and fix them and also we will finally have our star running back Frank Gore back and maybe Michael Crabtree might play for the first time. All in all we still are a good football team, like I always say every good football team has a really bad game. posted by

It was really sad for the Bay Area teams on Sunday but don't worry I have faith in my Niners and I know they'll at least make the play-offs this year. posted by

If we could somehow get Jon Gruden back...Chuckie was the only one who could tame the wild beast known as the Raiders and Al Davis. Oh well, we f'd that one off too. posted by

They might still make the playoffs because of their horrible division, AnimalLuvr. Most of my family are Niner fans, and I noticed that they were down on their team even when you beat the Rams 35-0. Something just ain't right with both teams. I read that Singletary put the niner players through the most physical training camp, and that it may begin to wear on the players now. The best niner teams from the 80s and 90s didn't even practice. posted by

Yeah that's why we beat the Cards and everyone knows that we won the Vikings game, the Vikes are probably the best team in the NFL. Our record and the Raiders record speaks for itself. So don't go bashing the Niners when the only win you guy's got was against the Chiefs, and you guys barely beat them. Also this is our best start since 2002. This is totally a different Niners team than the 80's and 90's, that's why they had to train so hard because we got a lot of young guys on our team. duh, horrible divison, we got the cards and you guys are the ones that have the horrible divison, animalluvr out! posted by

Animal-- Everyone knows that you won the Vikes game except the SCOREBOARD! hahaha...don't go and make statements like that. Brett Favre won that game. And the Vikings aren't the best team in the NFL, the Giants probably are. posted by

Jamarcus Russell is one of the reasons the NFLPA is yelling for a rookie salary cap. The guy is just overpaid and whatever he does at this point will not justify the dollars he's making. Will he ever recieve those type of dollars should he survive this contract? I thought I was the last Al Davis fan but this organization is a mess. Bad contracts (that CB with the name I can't pronounce, Deangelo Hall). Bad coaching hires (Should've kept Kiffin). Mediocre draft picks (Gallery was pretty bad). It's sad to see Al Davis go out like this. He needs to go back to the blueprint. Hire mean nasty people and...just win, baby. posted by

Try to look on the bright side. The stores are price slashing all their Raiders stuff. It will be cheaper to Holiday shop for all of the die hard Raiders' fans in your family. My children have exiled some of my Raiders stuff to the basement. They refuse to have it visible to anyone who happens to come over. posted by

Oh and the really good NFL news this season is that my husband finally gets to wear his Saints sweatshirts without being teased. Hey...wait a minute..... I look good in black. I can look just as good in Saints black as I can in Raiders black. posted by

JaMarcus Russell is the modern version of Marc Wilson. Over payed and overrated. I remember closing my eyes every time Wilson dropped back. Russell may not throw as many pics as Wilson did, but missing your targets 70% of the time still gives you a loss, and in the end, what difference does it make how you got there? Russell sucks. Maybe he'll come around in five years, but who wants to wait that long for a winning season. Defend him if you like, but there isn't a true armchair QB who won't agree with that statement. As far as Al Davis goes..There was a time when I was a big fan of his too, but his treatment of Marcus Allen soured me on him. I believe he is now just a senile old fart who has forgotten his roots. His glasses prove that! I tried to give up on the Raiders after their idiot fans in Oakland tried to destroy the city after their superbowl loss to Tampa Bay. Call me a racist, but I didn't see any blacks, whites, Arabs or Orientals in the videos of that dreadful night. I realized that it was the wannabe gangbangers who call themselves Raiders fans for no other reason than they like the Silver and Black, and who couldn't name the starting QB if their lives depended on it that instigated that mess. Since I have been a dedicated fan since 1976, I figured I'd rather stick with them than be labled a fair weather fan. It is painful to watch them these days, so I just don't watch them very often, opting to catch their follies on Primetime. Maybe next year! posted by

Motopoet: I agree wholeheartedly. As for the "cholo" raider fans, i've gotten puzzled, irritated, and threatening responses from a few Raider tatoo sporting guys I tried to engage small talk with while in line at store or whatever...you're right, they have no clue whose on the team, or what day football games are played even...As for marc wilson...LOL...the first year i remember football clearly is the 85 bears super bowl year...i believe marc wilson led us to the playoffs that year..we lost to the would-be-afc-champs the patriots in the first round. at this point, jamarcus isn't even up to marc wilson's level yet. lol i even remember his replacement- rusty hilger and being excited about him when the next season began. we should've found a way to land jim kelly when we were trying! posted by

I disagree, Moto. Marc Wilson at his worst was better than Jamarcus at his best. Back then the Raiders had world class speed with Mervyn Fernandez, Cliff Branch, and Dokie Williams (later Willie Gault, Ron Brown, Rocket Ismail, and Tim Brown) posted by
