Illegals awarded the scarlet 'C'.
The immigration bill is amnesty for the coyote employer. It will relieve them of the crimes that they have committed against the security of America. It will allow them to continue to hire workers from a employee pool that had it's origination in the criminal act of illegal immigration and it's accompanying fraud required of the illegal to obtain employment in America.
The coyote employer has no intention or desire to stop the processes of illegal immigration. They only want to legalize those already in their employ. While still allowing more illegal immigration for the purpose of a continuation of the inflated employee pool.
The mere presence of these illegals in the shadows will continue to promote the fear of job loss. Fear even for those illegals that have been awarded the scarlet 'C'.
Without mandatory jail time for the coyote employer. Steinbecks 'Grapes of Wrath” will live for ever in the San Joaquin valley.
It is more important that we legitimize the illegal as a human being deserving of a helping hand up. Than it is to processes him like cattle and hand him a citizenship paper. 7 comments from 5 users

Visualize the problem as one of containment of pressure. You can build up a pressure vessel--a wall, so to speak--to contain any given level of pressure. But sooner or later it's going to leak, and the damage done will be proportional to the pressure. Think "Ghostbusters I". Make it hard enough to enter, and you're going to kill smuggled Mexicans. . Reduce the pressure, and you have no only a much lower containment cost, and much less damage done when it does leak. In the immigration picture, that means jailing employers who break the law to hire undocumented aliens, and helping build up the trans-border economy so they have less reason to leave their homeland. . And we can afford to be generous to those already here. One of their children may solve AIDS, or global warming, or just write a nice book someday. posted by

A path to freedom for the illegals is not the monumental problem that you might think it is.
Eliminate the criminal employer with the imposition of jail time.. Increases wages so that full time farm employees can materialize. Insure that back ground checks are sufficient to prohibit the legalization of troublesome criminals. posted by

The employers do want to legitimize the illegals now in their employ. They just don't want to stop the flow of future illegals. This illegal pool of employees will handicap the legals and prevent any attempt at unionization or any other attempt to improve their working condition.
That's why I insist on mandatory jail time in addition to monetary fines for the coyote employer.
The immigration bill must have as its purpose, 'GOOD'. Not GREED' .
Immigrations purpose should be to honor life and freedom. Not the rustling of human flesh into a bull ring of corruption and greed.
Citizenship papers must be a honor. Not a scarlet 'C'. posted by

It's all about slave labor no matter what spin is put on it. Follow the money rather than the rhetoric.

OK guys, what's the next step. Illegals will continue to cross the border, but the safeguards you suggest will be in place so that no one will employ them. What do the illegals do then? Sneak back across the border? Get public assistance? Find an unscrupulous employer who works outside the law who employs them for 1/2 the usual wage? I can't believe I'm blogging again today. I'm supposed to be working on my genealogy.
