Our society has chosen Government to be our caretakers and bully pulpit Well, that is sort of our big problem right there, that chicken is coming home to roost. What are you upset for? Obama is going to get his trillion dollar stimulas that will stimulate the government into a tremendous debt and will handicap future spending to a pay-as you go (which isn't such a bad thing). The republicans just aren't going to give Obama political cover on something they know will fail, and fail miserably. posted by

Food stamps, welfare and MediCal don’t mean give aways to the poor. They mean Grocery Stores and hospitals get paid and don’t have to shut their doors. They mean that farmers have consumers for their products. What about the cost to those of us who work who have to foot the bill for these programs? Why should we be compelled to continue working just so we can pay higher taxes for others to continue receiving these "benefits" while they provide nothing tangible in return? posted by

Amen brother! Reagan and his CONservative hypsters have been exposed. Credit has expanded on an unimaginable scale since 1982. Their tricks with SS and Medicare have now bankrupted this country. Tax cuts for the wealthy do nothing for the other 99%. TELL ME ONE THING KEVIN HAS DONE SINCE HE HAS BE EN IN WASHINGTON?? Something that is tangible and real, not some stupid committee he formed that did nothing but sit around and discuss how much in taxes they can cut. Stage 2 of the crisis I have been warning about since late 2004 has begun...the real pain is only beginning for AmeriKKKa... posted by

So "trickle down economics" is giving people who lie about their job a half million dollar mortgage to buy a house they cannot afford? That is not trickle down economics. That is the Democrats plan under Barney Frank to force homelenders to extend mortgages to anyone, regardless of their ability to pay.... posted by

I don't understand why Democrats are so upset about Republicans not voting for the stimulus. Reps don't have to. Democrats have a strong majority. They can pass any legislation they want. Reps aren't even holding things up. They are just saying pass anything you want and face the consequences. Dems apparently can't accept that responsibility. Apparently, they want someone to blame if this trillion dollar porkulus bill fails... posted by

I think it is your boy obama who is spreading the fear. And didn't the Democrats yell and scream for 8 years that we were doomed with Repubs and Bush running things?? Yup. And when the Dems did vote along with Republicans, and things did not go well, ala Iraq, Democracts NOT ONCE stood up and defended their vote. So yes. I hope Obama and his policies fail. Just like you Democrats hoped Bush and his policies would fail. Now that the Dems have control of the presidency and legislature, you can quit blaming the Republicans. You can pass every single bill you guys want without one single Republican... With this porkulus bill, all you need is for every Democrat in the Senate to pass it, and you guys can claim 100% ownership of it. Why do you have such a problem with this?? posted by

Of course we wanted America to succeed. So with that in mind. It would follow that we would hope that Jr. Would succeed.
But the reality is. Jr. never offered a plan that would work. And was rightly criticized for it. In fact it turned from criticism of his policies to the realization that a haze of doom hover over America until his term would end. And lessons learned by his mistakes. Would led to the abolishment of his failed policies. It wasn't that Americans hoped he would fail. It was Jr.'s insistence that as long as he did not recognize failure. It could not be.
