AgJOBS and Bush's immigration proposal.
AgJOBS Will not work. There is no point in even speaking about such a system in the midst of the criminal ag business labor subcontracting. The purpose of the ag labor subcontracting is to avoid all forms of legalization. It will continue to forge documents and pay sub par wages.
The above is fact for a simple reason. No immigrant. Legal or illegal comes to America to live a life of a farm worker. It is a position that is taken as a stop over job. A position that in short order will lead to non ag jobs.
These jobs in the ag business performed by the illegal immigrant are part time jobs. Jobs good for 9 months of the year at best. The low wages and the instability of employment insure a continuing need for more and more illegal immigrants. What would you expect the immigrant to do during the 3 to 6 months of unemployment?
We already have immigration provisions that require that an immigrant to refrain from collecting government subsistences. How do you suggest that a immigrant do this while working in a low paying part time job.
If you want a steady work force. Create a steady job. A job that provides for a wage for the employee for the entire year. A job that provides opportunity for the employee.
Immigration to provide for cheap labor for part time jobs, is a idiotic idea.
Kern Counties farm towns have winter unemployment that reach 40% at times. There is no need for nor opportunity for immigrant labor in the ag business at this time.
There must be great sanctions placed on the avoidance of employment regulations. Loop holes in the subcontracting of labor from owner to contractor must be addressed.
I worked for years in the farm fields while in school. Although it is indeed a difficult job. If the wages are right. Americans will line up in droves to do the work.
Because of illegal immigration and the flooding of the labor market. Jobs that I did in the 60's for 700 dollars a week. Pay only 350/week today.
Until these conditions of employment are addressed. Nothing can be solved. It is all a waste of time, money and hot air.
We did not reach 21% mortgage rates until 1983. Well into the Reagan years.. Under Paul Volker. Reagan lowered mortgage rates by creating a recession. Suppose you like that well enough…
I liked the CD’S and T-Bills.. Prior to Reagan and Volker starting the recession…
One thing is for certain.. Carter did not stoop to trading Weapons for hostages.. Too bad Reagan did not apply the American policy of not negotiating with terrorists.. A policy the Jr. has steadfastly stuck to in Iraq.
The result of Reagan’s arms deals. Crime, Corruption and disgrace..
95% of the weapons deployed during Iraq War one and two. Had funding initiated or development started or completed during the Carter presidency..
They include the Cobra helicopter, the Warthog , the Humvee and the Abrams tank… Carter was responsible for three. aircraft carriers. Reagan one…
Black Thursday. The largest decline in Stockmarkert history???? You got it Reagan..
Two, yep not one, but TWO housing bubble bursts…
Reagan destroyed the Unions and served over the largest influx of illegal aliens in the history of the world….
Reagan Destroyed the Houston Texas economy…
Reagan plunged America into what was at the time, it’s greatest debt in history. This World record was only surpassed by Jr….
Immigration?? Outsourcing??
Check out what has happened to the sheep industry. Sheepherders were imported from Peru. They were lucky to receive 600 dollars/ month a trash trailer and a water wagon. They lived in the worst conditions imaginable.
What was the result of this horrible sacrifice.. New Zealand and Australia still dominate the Sheep and wool industry.
The countries that our clothing industry moved to. Have living conditions not much better than those I described for the sheepherder.
Do you suggest as Volcker does. That, so we may continue to work, we should live in sub poverty?
Do you suggest that Americans work for pennies.
It’s not going to happen.
Jefferson spoke of revolution. It was his form of redistribution of wealth. Lets hope the men today are wiser than Jefferson.
The economy no matter how people try to say differently. Works in a micro environment.. Good for some, bad for others…
The national economy is a sum total of these micro environments. Not an average..
For a great number of Americans, the Carter years were the greatest earning years of their lives. And a huge relief from the disastrous Nixon/ Ford years.. (A $1000 earned $200 dollars in one years interest. Wages at all time highs During the Carter years)…
American’s after decades of experiencing war.. Had a glimpse of light at the end of the tunnel….
Then Came the hostage crises….
It appears that some conservatives on this board accuse 76% of Americans of hating Bush.
But it seems they Hate 'everyone'..
The selfishness exhibited by Curt, Bako and Ron has been overwhelming.
It reminds one of a animal that has been cornered. It lashes out at everything. Striking down it’s own young. In a fruitless attempt at survival.
Increase the gas tax. Now!!!!!
Texas, One of the leaders in oil production. The home of many of the world petroleum corporations. Is about to pass a bill that would reduce the state gas tax by 20 cents. That would be a savings of about three dollars a fill up.
What the heck are they thinking. You could just as well have the state write a billion dollar check to the oil corporations.
The oil companies have already stated that we must reduce consumption and increase fuel mileage. They have continued to complain that it wasn’t their inept management of their refineries that has caused the rise in prices. Rather they argue that it is America’s addiction to petro that has caused the run up in prices.
How can reducing the taxes and encouraging vacations by auto. Reduce consumption????
France has $2.15/gallon gasoline. Because they also have $4.20/tax on gasoline. They also have a much lower per capita fuel consumption. A 35 hour work week, month long vacations. Many more paid holidays and a single payer/universal health care system..
America needs these things. Much more than we need 400 million dollar a year petro CEO salaries.
Why not wait until September to force a decision on Iraq?
Because my loved one has not died in Iraq YET!!!!!!
Democrats. Don’t fail me now.
Remember Pope Paul’s consistent ethics of life?
Evaluate your demands. Set a priority and vote for the politician that will do the most good.
Republicans have attracted the single issue voter for decades. Democrats have finally got back on tract with the Iraq war issue. And have an excellent chance of electing the president and congress in 2008..
The illegal immigrant issue is the deciding factor in the 2008 elections. It is the issue that will sway enough voters to put the Republicans ahead. They will do nothing to solve the problem. But they will use the issue to win the election and stick America in Iraq for decades.
So ask yourself. What good will allowing continued illegal immigration. What good will come from amnesty?
We reason that Iraqi’s should solve their own problems. Then how can we justify solving the problems of Mexico?????????????
Be consistent. Do what is right for both America and Mexico.. Stop crime.. Secure our borders..
Be consistent. Vote a consistent ethics of life..
Who’s doing the laundry?
Opinion please.
What is a Chicken Hawk..
I suppose I have a problem with a person who did not live through a period of a Active draft. Redefining the term Chicken Hawk.
A Chicken Hawk isn’t someone who obtained a deferment from the draft..
But the College football tackle. Who obtained a deferment to AVOID the draft. Who then threw rocks at the war protester. The VN vet Amputee, in a wheelchair, who was protesting a war he thought America shouldn‘t be involved in....
Yea, Maybe he is a Chicken Hawk.
The guy who took band in college to AVOID the draft. Then learned how to play the Trumpet. And who today, stands at the end of the pier, playing the ‘Battle Hymn of the Republic‘, as the ships take our men marching off to war.
Yea, Maybe he is a Chicken Hawk..
Been to Church? Did you pray for Peace?
Pray again and again.. There’s a chance peace will come in our life…

Before I enter upon the examination of particular taxes, it is necessary to premise the four following maxims with regard to taxes in general.

I. The subjects of every state ought to contribute towards the support of the government, as nearly as possible, in proportion to their respective abilities; that is, in proportion to the revenue which they respectively enjoy under the protection of the state. The expence of government to the individuals of a great nation is like the expence of management to the joint tenants of a great estate, who are all obliged to contribute in proportion to their respective interests in the estate. In the observation or neglect of this maxim consists what is called the equality or inequality of taxation. Every tax, it must be observed once for all, which falls finally upon one only of the three sorts of revenue above mentioned, is necessarily unequal in so far as it does not affect the other two. Reagan-o-nomics, was the beginning of the transformation of Americas economy to the so called, ‘Ownership society‘.
Doesn’t ownership society have a ring of royalty to it. Where are my robe and slippers. Peal my grapes.
But what does ownership mean. Does it mean wealth?
Well not if what you own is not wanted by anyone else. Most Ford Pintos are worthless.
If you seek wealth from ownership. Your fortune depends on the wants of others. Not on your wisdom. Not on your hard work.
When the value of your property begins to slip away. It’s as though your fingers were dipped in lard. Your hands can be as strong as ten men. But your riches will be gone. Only to return if it pleases another.
Stock market crashes. Bubble bursts. How have they performed in your lifetime. Will your fortunes return the same pleasures, will they match that of your Grandparents when you retire?
Long hours. Miserable, sleepless nights are not the same as hard work. But much more damaging to ones health.
Human nature combined with piece work and a commission. Falls prey to greed.

Lundberg Survey, Media please investigate
Something must be done to protect the public from fiction or inappropriate information. Concerning the petro industry.
Stop accepting this information as relevant.
For instance the idea that gasoline usage is up.
2005-Apr 04/01 9,095 04/08 9,089 04/15 9,170 04/22 9,306
2006-Apr 04/07 9,297 04/14 9,100 04/21 9,012 04/28 9,099
2007-Apr 04/06 9,472 04/13 9,247 04/20 9,163 04/27 9,260
The above information. Available at no charge to the public. From the Fed Energy Information Agency. Plainly shows that gasoline usage for Apr 2007 is lower than Apr 2005.
It also shows. That because of the huge drop in demand for 2006. Those figures are throw away. Unless of course your purpose is to distort the facts and increase profit for the petro industry.
The demand dropped in 2006. Because Katrina washed over 500,000 pieces of motorized equipment out of service. Even with the reduce refinery capacity petro storage increased to record levels.
The Lundberg Survey supplies reports to the petro industry. And gets paid well for their information.
Question your sources. Don’t parrot. Parroting is not reporting.
There is no such thing as a totally reliable source.

The consequences of an ownership society.
It is obvious that it is not Education that is America’s problem. It is in fact the, ‘ownership society syndrome’, that ails us.
As proof I will put forward the following.
1. America needs H-1 visas for the skilled jobs.
2. America needs illegal immigrants for the unskilled jobs.
3. And the combination of the two will save Social Security.

Terror at the pumps. Paying oil companies for incompetence.
The current refinery production is hovering around 87%. Lower at times.
Let me emphasize that refineries can operate at over 100% capacity. In that 100% is not maximum capacity. But rather the most efficient capacity when maintenance is taken into consideration.
The refineries are not now. And have not been shut down for spring change over for some time now. They are shut down because of poor maintenance that has caused refinery failures.
Considering the huge profits garnered by the oil companies. There is no excuse for the mismanagement and sub par maintenance of the refineries. There is no reason that crew sizes are not doubled and shifts run around the clock in order to get the refineries back on production.
No reason except for greed. No reason except that planed shortages result in greater profits. Failed equipment result in greater profit. No reason except that inflicting fear on the public. Results in greater profit.
This is not capitalism. It is not competition. It is the commingling of greed in order to create shortages. It is price fixing. It is theft.
Let’s also be clear in that there is no shortage of crude. Crude supplies are up. Bush has also ordered an increase in the Federal strategic oil reserves. And has not provided a good explanation for this.
We are pumping crude oil back into the ground. Back into salt mines. While gasoline skyrockets up to $4.00/ gallon.
Corpses to the Mojave Desert, on Tuesdays..
Family and friendly tasks are a obligation. Duties done out of kindness and respect, not for profit.
The underground economy is an economy, where a purposeful effort is made to avoid taxes expected of a citizen of our nation..
You don’t get to enjoy the profits earned from a societies economy. If you don’t participate in the maintenance of the economy.
Maintenance of the economy includes law enforcement, fire services, sweeping corpses from in front of your residence. And of course providing a beat up old Chevy 1 ton. To haul said corpses to the Mojave Desert, on Tuesdays..
A society must collect money to pay for these services. Unfortunately Society’s Administrator, got stuck with the terms, Government and taxes.
It could have been a completely different world. If they would have been called Corporations and fees..
Both bad luck and good luck can come. With the role of the dice..

Space Travel?
NOTHING Has come from Americas Manned Space program, other than publicity.
NOTHING has been invented in the Manned space program that could not have come about as the result of other programs.
No aliens, no mounds of gold, no cures for old age or arrogance.
NASA’s manned space program is a huge jobs program for the college educated, that can’t find a job in the private sector.
NASA’s Manned Space program is a failure. Reagan’s Star wars programs were a failure. So now we are going to open up a new sector of jobs programs sponsored by donations from the wealthy. A new carnival program that will produce the ultimate circus ride.
Sure it‘s their money. Sure they can do with their money as they wish.
But these wealthy seek fame by attaching their names to these projects.
Myself and those who agree with me, do not have to participate in anointing these people with admiration..
Maybe they could open up a couple of flu vaccine plants and give away vaccine.
Maybe they could promote hydrogen fuel cells and the systems needed to make them practical..
Heck instead of just giving away a trophy and some money. Maybe they could start a business and make some money. Produce some REAL jobs and provide for a more secure America.
Just like Private Insurance companies. Social Security requires proper management to survive. The currant tax reduction is not good management. It amounts to reducing the premium on a private insurance plan, at a time when increased benefits are being paid out.
This seems to conflict with my previous posts concerning the separation of General fund and SS Funds. So let me explain. A reduction in General Fund taxes, increases the debt to SS. This will require that in the future a huge amount of money will need to be collected to pay off the debt to Social Security. Add this to the fact that inflation will cause a need to increase the premium payment for SS INSURANCE. And you have ammunition to feed the Conservative view. But in fact any increase in future taxes to pay for SS, (other than increases due to inflation). Will be due to mismanagement by the currant regime.
They are robbing Peter to pay Paul....
It doesn’t make sense for Private insurance to do such a thing. So why would it make sense for a govt. agency to do such???
Just like inflation affects the private sector, it will also affect the SS system and an increase in premiums will most likely be needed.
What America needs is a smaller deficit and proper management. And the social Security system will be just fine.
SSI IS NOT PAID FOR WITH SS FUNDS......
Here you go:

ALSO:
Supplemental Security Income
Home Page
Supplemental Security Income (SSI) is a Federal income supplement program funded by general tax revenues (not Social Security taxes):
It is designed to help aged, blind, and disabled people, who have little or no income; and
It provides cash to meet basic needs for food, clothing, and shelter.
TK says:
The tax reductions implemented by Bush and the Republicans have created a deficit and reduced the general fund. It is only because of these tax reductions that SS funds have been needed to pay SSI benefits.
EVERY INDIVIDUAL MUST PAY FOR THE RIGHT TO MINGLE WITHIN SOCIETY. EVEN IN THE ABSENCE OF A FORMAL GOVERNMENT..
Centrists and the Cons.
Cons fail to recognize that there are contractual obligations of an individual to Society.
In the absence of society. There is no need for, nor does WEALTH exist.
In the absence of society and it’s laws. An individual owns no more than he can touch, before someone else can. You could not own, what you could not see.. Without the ability to mingle with others, there would be no value in what you could not consume.
Guarding something you could not use, would be a liability, not something of value.
Wealth would not exist.
When societies are allowed to flourish. The value of wealth is assigned by those in each individual society. It may be just the number of camels a person owns. But in most societies the value of wealth is not the most important of social values.
In America there is old money and new money. So even in America a dollar is not always worth a dollar..
"On pain of living a life that's seriously immoral, a typical well-off person, like you and me, must give away most of her financially valuable assets, and much of her income, directing the funds to lessen efficiently the serious suffering of others."
-Peter Unger. Living High and Letting Die: Our Illusion of Innocence.
"Man - every man - is an end in himself, not a means to the ends of others; he must live for his own sake, neither sacrificing himself to others nor sacrificing others to himself; he must work for his rational self-interest, with the achievement of his own happiness as the highest moral purpose of his life."
-Ayn Rand. Introducing Objectivism.
TK Says:
Taken on their own. I see no area of debate. I see two statements of INDIVIDUAL RIGHTS. In fact "Man - every man - is an end in himself‘, supports 100% taxation on inheritance, the same as ’ must give away most of her financially valuable assets, and much of her income, directing the funds to lessen efficiently the serious suffering of others’, does. ( I find the use of the word ‘her’, interesting..)
Arguing against the redistribution of wealth is like a debate on whether water is good for you or not. Of course if you are in the middle of a huge lake, without a life raft or jacket, it is both, (you must have water to drink) . AND STILL VERY NECESSARY.
The lack of a policy of redistribution of wealth will result in REVOLUTION, the ultimate form of redistribution of wealth.
REDISTRIBUTION OF WEALTH WILL HAPPEN EVENTUALLY. The same as water is necessary..
Graduated taxation, minimum wage, welfare, and other socialized areas of our religions and governments are forms of 'the redistribution of wealth'.
In more specific terms:
CIVILIZED REVOLUTION................
Separating Society from Government.
Consider a wretched drunk dying in the gutter.
TK says:
Now consider that this fictitious individual gave both his legs in the defense of his country. Prior to becoming a gutter drunk. Which of the following would apply. A,B,C.D.E
Now lets apply a few other variables. Lets make two individuals like the one above. Except one is an 18 year old with out a high school education. And the other is a 50 year old graduate from West Point. Which of the following would apply?
Now lets consider that you are the father of both these two individuals. Your wife’s illness has used up all your savings and your fortune has been swept away in a tornado.
Which of the following would apply...
a) I can reach out my hand and give personal aid to the drunk dying in the gutter.
b) A group like a church can do the same
c) A community like a township or a neighborhood can provide him aid.
d) The state can institute programs to assist such people
e) The federal government can have social programs to help the derelict.
I maintain all would have a responsibility.
Many people live in a dream world and believe that poor only die in the street in other countries. They believe they can abandon all the good works developed by our predecessors and nothing will change.
They believe the sick and poor will fade away into the hinterland. And if time should come, they can no longer heal themselves, they will dig their own hole and bury themselves.
But people don’t dig their own graves and bury their self. So who is going to pay me to pick up your dead sons out of the gutter, toss them into my trunk, and drop them behind a sage bush, in the middle of the Mojave Desert.
