Great article Valarie Schultz

A wonderful educational presentation of compassion, tolerance and understanding.

You skillfully describe the fear which is the result of a lack of knowledge and thought.

Inspiring.

TK, The Last Bako Capitalist.

Bakersfield is full of something. But it is not capitalists.

You can make your own rules and call your form of economy anything you want.

But if you wish to be a capitalist. You must follow the rules set by the founder of American Capitalism. Adam Smith. In his book Wealth of Nations. Smith is in full support of the progressive tax and the redistribution of wealth.

If you can not adhere to the following you can not call yourself a capitalist.

From, 'The Wealth of Nations.'

http://www.econlib.org/libr...

Smith Says:

Before I enter upon the examination of particular taxes, it is necessary to premise the four following maxims with regard to taxes in general.

V.2.24
I. The subjects of every state ought to contribute towards the support of the government, as nearly as possible, in proportion to their respective abilities; that is, in proportion to the revenue which they respectively enjoy under the protection of the state. The expence of government to the individuals of a great nation is like the expence of management to the joint tenants of a great estate, who are all obliged to contribute in proportion to their respective interests in the estate. In the observation or neglect of this maxim consists what is called the equality or inequality of taxation. Every tax, it must be observed once for all, which falls finally upon one only of the three sorts of revenue above mentioned, is necessarily unequal in so far as it does not affect the other two. In the following examination of different taxes I shall seldom take much further notice of this sort of inequality, but shall, in most cases, confine my observations to that inequality which is occasioned by a particular tax falling unequally even upon that particular sort of private revenue which is affected by it.

TK continues

There is such disregard for the rules of capitalism today. Smith no doubt would be considered a socialist by many.

Those who are interested in morality and goodness should also read:

The Theory of Moral sentiments.

Capitalism, does it exist anymore?

It seems that capitalism is lost. Today our system seems to honor the old money. Not work.

We honor investment of cash. Not the investment of labor.

We assume that it is ideas that create riches. Not labor.

When the value of ideas fail. We diminish the honor of labor even more. We dismiss it and call the layoff an increase in productivity.

We discarded apprenticeship and pretended to replace it with 4 years of college.

We now have a system that is solely dependent on first come first serve. The gate to success has swung closed to many Americans. And the only way in is through deception for many. Criminality for others.

This faux capitalism has it's roots in Reagonomics. The idea of trickle down. The union busting. The failure to stop illegal immigration. Are all Reagan ideas. That haunt us today.

The professionals that accepted the influx of illegals to pick our lettuce. Are suffering the fate of their refusal to honor the profession of others. The Radiologists sees his work transferred and performed over the Internet in India. The doctors sees his job being performed by the nurse practitioner. The dental schools that decedents of dentist had a strangle hold on in the 70's. Have been replaced by dental schools in Granada. The lawyer has his jobs farmed out to the para legal.

Security belongs only to those who control the economy. Hedge funds control money that could buy any of the leading multinational corporations outright. They control money that could sell off a stock and wipe out your retirement funds.

Today. Both the professional and the laborer is at risk.

We are not the big money. But we are the deciding vote. We have to work together to protect our health. Protect our family. Protect our castle and Save Capitalism.

We can no longer settle for trickle down. Labor and hard work is the source of all wealth.

Read Adam Smith, 'Wealth of Nations'. He is the father of capitalism in America.

Taxation in proportion to ones benefit from society. Is a basic tenet of Capitalism.

http://www.econlib.org/inde...

From, 'Wealth of Nations';

When the carriages which pass over a highway or a bridge, and the lighters which sail upon a navigable canal, pay toll in proportion to their weight or their tonnage, they pay for the maintenance of those public works exactly in proportion to the wear and tear*35 which they occasion of them. It seems scarce possible to invent a more equitable way of maintaining such works. This tax or toll too, though it is advanced by the carrier, is finally paid by the consumer, to whom it must always be charged in the price of the goods. As the expence of carriage, however, is very much reduced by means of such public works, the goods, notwithstanding the toll come cheaper to the consumer than they could otherwise have done; their price not being so much raised by the toll as it is lowered by the cheapness of the carriage. The person who finally pays this tax, therefore, gains by the application more than he loses by the payment of it. His payment is exactly in proportion to his gain. It is in reality no more than a part of that gain which he is obliged to give up in order to get the rest. It seems impossible to imagine a more equitable method of raising a tax.

TK continues:

Further, Let's not degrade this discussion into a Larry Crammer recital of the Laffer Curve. He doesn't have a clue.

The truth of the Laffer curve serves no purpose to the argument of reducing or elimination of taxes. The results of any diagnosis involving the Laffer curve depends wholly on where the debt of the nations exist on the curve. If the nation is in debt. Not enough taxes are being collected. If there is a surplus, too much taxes are being collect. Nothing brilliant about that diagnosis. No reason to trumpet Mr. Laffer for his works. A child knows when he has too much or not enough without drawing a curve.

This scribbling by Mr. Laffer, has been inaccurately  used to suggest that lower taxes always results in more revenue. Therefore reduced debt.

This is not the case. It is fact that every attempt to reduce taxes including that by J. Kennedy, has resulted in greater debt and a accompanying increase in taxes.

That is fact. In ink. In the history books. No economic theory required.

SSI, the non entitlement.

Entitlements are earned through automatic premium deductions from the payroll check.

Political hucksters attempt to besmear the name entitlement. They lump together many programs and label them all entitlements. That is not the truth. I will try to explain this to you. If you would like to do your own research you can go to firstgov.gov and search under each particular program.

Entitlements are earned. They are paid for through premiums automatically deducted from your payroll check. They are not part of the general fund. They do not increase the Federal deficit or debt. In fact they have been borrowed from and have been used to pay for the latest round of tax and all tax cuts since Kennedy. These loans are backed by Treasury bonds and the full faith and credit of the United States of America. Under any economic theory. If these bonds are not honored. The economy, the stock market, the banks and the trust in America around the worlds falls to nil. It would be a economic disaster. It would be 'The Greatest Depression'.

Entitlements therefore must be paid for. And just like in the private sector, this is done through premium adjustments.

SSD is not part of SSI.

SSD is social security disability, paid for with Social Security funds through FICA automatic payroll deduction

SSI is Supplemental Security income. It is a welfare system for disabled and old age retired. Managed by the state and paid through Federal general tax funds.

You must be near destitute to qualify for SSI.

There are no income or asset requirements to be met for SSD.

Social Security is a retirement annuity. Paid through a FICA premium automatically deducted from the payroll. No General tax funds involved.

SSD is a disability insurance annuity. Paid through a FICA premium deducted from the payroll. No General tax funds involved.

Medicare, Paid through a Medicare premium automatically deducted from the payroll. No General tax funds involved.

SDI is a off the job, short term disability insurance. Paid through a SDI premium automatic payroll deduction. No general tax funds involved.

Workers Comp is a on the job disability insurance. Paid by the employer in the name of the employee for service render by the employee. It is a premium that is earned by the employee. Not a gift of the employer.

All the above are in fact paid by employee premiums. Not one nickel collected, unless work rendered. They are earned. Therefore they are entitlements.

SSI is a welfare plan for the destitute disabled and destitute old age retired. Paid out of the general tax fund. This is a non earned benefit. Strict asset and income levels must be met.

Welfare programs including cash aid and food stamps. Paid out of the general tax, managed and supplemented by the State/county. This is a non earned benefit. It is not an entitlement. Strict asset and income levels must be met.

Medicaid is a federal program. Paid out of the general tax, managed and supplemented by the State/county. This is a non earned benefit. It is not an entitlement. Strict asset and income levels must be met. In California it is known as Medical.

America's children of the future will not have to bail out Social Security and other entitlements.

They will have to pay for Treasury Bonds charged up to pay for tax cuts.

I am a veteran. I worked for the American people. I spent 71/2 years in the Army

Today, I am told that our soldiers are dieing to protect my freedoms to save me from Al Quada..

While I know that when in combat the trooper fights for his buddy. I am being held up as an excuse for this war by the Bush regime. My nation/my freedoms the reason these troopers lose their lives and their limbs.

The trooper makes up his mind when he joined the service to follow orders. His beliefs and political views are welcome in church and his prayers. At the voting booth. His service is honored. But whether he supports the war. Whether he considers the war justified or worthy. Means nothing. His duty is to fight.

Over 70% of Americans do not want another limb sacrificed in Iraq for their freedom. We do not recognize a hazard worth that sacrifice.

Over 70% of Americans do not want to ordain another American hero. So that 10 thousand more Iraqi's will die. Without any resolution to this civil war possible while Iraq is occupied.

Over 70% of Americans do not want to spill another drop of our troopers blood. Blood that takes with it the beat of a fathers life. The warmth of a loving husbands hug. And the smile that shined, a Mothers very reason for existing.

Over 70% of Americans do not want photo ops. We want out of the war. We want to be relieved of the responsibility for any more tragedy in Iraq.

We want the Iraqi people to be responsible.

I am a Christian, I am for fiscal responsibility (paygo), I am for strong borders and defense. How much more conservative can I get. Do I have to pull the handle at the Gallows and support the death penalty to be Republican? Do I have to tell a women what type of medical care she can have, and refuse to make available the medical care she needs, to be a Republican.

I have avoided voting Republican ever since Reagan destroyed the Union. He created the mindset that is destroying the middle class.

I don't want a government that appeases me with a stipend of trickle down.

I want a government that keeps the working class at safe harbor, the same as the Blue bloods.

I don't want us to always be the last ship to rise with the tide. And the first to fall.

I agree with Theodore.

Without a border. No nation can exist.

Whose flag would we salute, Whose Anthem should we sing, if we have no borders.

A fence is not the total solution. It is like locking your front door. It keeps the honest ones honest.

A fence is in line with American tradition. You help yourself, you anticipate problems and provide preventive measures.

The best offense, is a good defense.

Our economy today is failing. We can not provide for those in America today. Allowing illegals of any nation the 'open' golden path to America, will only led them to misery and destitution. Enslavement under working conditions that even in the good times were despicable.

A fence is a act of kindness for those honest people who would want to better their lives. An indication to them that there is a Mexican dream. An indication that life is not so bad in  Mexico as opposed to other nations.

A fence will give them hope for a better Mexico. A Mexico so proud. They would protect their own borders. Salute their own flag. Sing their own Anthem.

Theodore Roosevelt's ideas on Immigrants and being an AMERICAN in 1907.

"In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the person's becoming in every facet an American, and nothing but an American...There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag... We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language... and we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people."

Theodore Roosevelt 1907

Lori's report on 'Politics Crimp Kern's windpipe'.

You've certainly become long winded LORI. Not complaining about your point of view. But let me condense it for the rest of the readers as follows..

It's obvious to me. When I look south at the headlights traveling hwy99, I-5 and the Grapevine. Then east at hwy 58.

There is no local solution to Kern's smog problem..

Thank you. Thank you very much.

Happy Kwanzaa

Kwanzaa is an African-American cultural holiday which originated in 1966. Created by Dr. Maulana Karenga, Kwanzaa is celebrated from Dec. 26 - Jan. 1. Each day of the celebration focuses on one of seven principles ("Nguzo Saba"). The name, "Kwanzaa", is taken from the Swahili phrase "matunda ya kwanza" which means "first fruits."

Gary's diet secrets

Well I figured out why I was loosing so much weight so fast. About 40 lbs in 3 or four months without dieting. Except changing from ice cream to freezer pops. About 40 freezer pops a day and still loosing weight.

When I got back from N. Dakota last summer. The pain specialist put me on tramidol. It's an 'atypical' opiate. It is not an opiate. It is synthetic but works just like an opiate.

It seems that 'atypical' and regular opiates cause your body to dissolve body fat. Some people 80% and more of their body fat in a short time.

This causes difficulty in breathing in some. (must be thickening the blood). For the first day I had some body itching. And a little bit of short breath. But it went away like the Dr. said and I kept taking it

Well It finally caught up with me. Just like all the other meds I have taken. They build up in my body and cause side effects.

A few days ago I started feeling a little bit of body itching and some other problems. A couple of days ago the breathing became so difficult I thought I would have to remind myself to breathe in my sleep. Very uncomfortable. Scary in fact. I have heard it described before as a elephant sitting on your chest.

It's kind of disappointing. The combination of Tramidol and lidocaine cream had been working so well.

And, 'Respiratory depression, a common side effect of most opioids, is not clinically significant in normal doses.' (Wikipedia) That doesn't leave me much hope for other opiates does it.

I switched back to the Neurontin and it seems to be working again, along with the lidocaine.

When someone insists there is a substitute drug for everyone, if one doesn't work for you. They are only speaking of those who have short term needs. I have yet to be prescribed a medication that doesn't have side effects from the onset. Or doesn't develop side effects latter and as Drs. Say. Need to be relaxed. In other words, stopped at least for a period of time. A period of time that can not be known before hand.

That is not the desired solution for a person who needs medication every day of their life. It is remarkable that it is impossible to convince some people that there are those who may live 40 or more years in need of pain medication. Pain that isn't the result of illness or injury. Not pain from surgery that will eventually go away. But pain that is a built in fixture of your live. Pain that will be just as common as your next breath or your next heartbeat. All three disappearing in the same moment.

Opiates are considered to be one of the safest drugs. They cause absolutely no harm to internal organs. But the itching, constipation and stigma attached to using them had kept me away. I had hoped the Tamidol would work. But it instead affirms my belief that only the desperate or insane would use those drugs.

When I was a kid. I smoked a couple of hits on a joint once or twice and hated it. (friends got me drunk enough to try it.) Thought it made me feel like I was just wall paper on the walls in the room.

Montel Williams says it has solved his nerve pain due to MS. Says it was a life saver.

Because of the way it affected me. I have no desire to try pot, even if it was legal. But maybe if I wasn't drinking at the time I used it. I may have had a different experience. Maybe I wouldn't have felt so paranoid if it had been legal.

Who knows who will be desperate tomorrow. Who knows what will make someone better, tomorrow. When in need. Will one apply the same morality to themselves, as they impose on another?

Maybe Montel will roll one up with me at the DA's office next year. Hey, You could all visit us at the county jail on Wednesdays. Ha Ha.

The way the tramidol made me feel. I felt it wasn't to long and I would be face up, eyes closed, as you all looked down at the funeral parlor.

I'll settle for the weekend visits in county jail.

Gary

PS,

Can't remember who. But someone on this board, gave me the heads up on tramidol when I first mentioned it last summer. Without that info. I may not have attributed my problems to the tramidol. And suffered even more. If I hadn't stopped when I did, I have no doubt I would have been in the emergency room in short time. Thank you, who ever you are.
