Hey folks, This is where the rubber meets the road. It's time to line up and fight for a common issue. LA has sicked the big dogs on us in the Court Room.
This Sludge Issue was soundly voted down in a popular vote. Why on earth would it be OK for a Judge to change that? This shouldn't happen. Human waste, when placed on Agricultural land, poisons the crops grown. If people eat the Produce, they get sick. If the crops are fed to Livestock, it poisons the Meat. It leaches into the water table, poisoning the water. Even the dust kicked up when the Sludge dries will spread sickness to people. These things don't even take into consideration the Industrial contaminents. Many of them, heavy metals for example, cause Cancer. Why would anyone think that it's OK to do this to our Valley? This is some of the richest, most productive farm land in the world. It's also our home. Folks, these aren't things that MIGHT happen way off in the future. They're things the WILL happen in just a few short years, if it's allowed to go on. Sacramento AND Business need to know that it ain't OK with us. There are people who have written othe blogs with good plans. What we, as a population, need to do now is go into motion and fight this thing from all sides. We need to temporarily set our differences aside and polarize ourselves on this one issue and take a hard line.
Let's hear from all you Veterans. When did you serve? Where were you stationed and what was your job? EVERY job mattered. I'd love to hear from every one of you. Please feel free to share a favorite story. God knows that I'm full of stories myself.
I was in the Navy from 1984 to 1988. My duty station was HC-6 out of Chambers Field, NAS Norfolk, Virginia. I was an Aviation Electronics Technician, trained as a U.S. Navy Rescue Swimmer and Air-crewman on an H-46 Helicopter. I spent most of my time at Sea, in the Mediterranean Sea, off the coast of the Middle East. I supplied the last of the Marines in Beirut. We were fired on heavily, but weren't allowed to return fire. I was in the Gulf of Sydra (inside "The Line of Death") when Lybia was showing out. When the Palace was destroyed, I was in the air, as the safety net for the EA-6Bs that did the deed. Let's hear from the rest of you...................... |
