There are few things that I enjoy more than cooking (especially outside) and having a good time with my friends.
This afternoon, my Wife was painting the upstairs Den, so I decided to cook Dinner. I cook pretty often, maybe two or three times a week, because I actually like to...
This is Saturday. It's different on the weekends. When I cook on the weekend, I THROW DOWN!!!
I usually go all out, and make a big meal on my grill. This afternoon was no exception. My 15 year old Son wanted to learn how to cook shell fish on the grill, like I do. He's already learned to grill Fish fillets, Steaks and Chicken, and does a good job of it. Today was a lesson in Grilled Shrimp and Lobster...
Anyway, dinner tonight, was Steak Fillets, Grilled Creole Shrimp. Grilled Creole Rock Libster, Corn on the Cobb, Steamed Wild Rice, (Wife had a baked Potato rather than Rice) Toasted French Bread and Salad. Dean (Oldest Son) and I had a great time putting it all together. He actually took the pictures. We cook, joke, laugh, nibble and play around while we cook, so it's a pretty good time. The only things missing are a Swimming Pool and Hot Tub. It gets too cold in Tennessee in the winter, to want to deal with them. (I wish I were still in California)
In a year or two, I'm sure that my youngest Son will get interested in the whole cooking/eating thing too. At this point, Tyler just wants to show up and eat. Hey, I could burn water in a Microwave Oven when I got Married. My Wife actually taught me how to cook, so it didn't make people sick to eat it. That's what gave me the confidence to teach myself to Barbequeue, smoke and grill food. Before Allie worked with me, I thought cooking for me, was like Golf...........I'd NEVER learn how.
I've got friends who Barbequeue Pork Shoulders and Ribs (This is THE BBQ Capital of the South) better than I can, but everyone comes to me for cooking Sea Food, Vegetables and Bird (Chicken, Quayle, Pheasant and Turkey) on a Grill.
It makes me feel really good to feed a bunch of happy people. ;-)
