We would like to work with educators to reach students, and develop energy engineering projects at each school site where there is sufficient interest.

Our program;  Kern Energy Education Projects is designed to help students progress in the energy/engineering fields, by having student teams select a project in their neighborhood - whether public or private group, that will sponsor a long-term solution to energy costs for that sponsor, which the Energy Education Team will help to provide.

Once the team is organized, and has mutually agreed on an energy project in their community, the team will begin to research and implement an energy solution for the Project, which requires the engineerin team/students to go to energy contractors, who are also serving as mentors for various teams in various cities where teams are organized, to assist the team with a list of energy project goals and objectives to be achieved by the students, on behalf of their sponsors.

Training will be provided to the student teams, to help them avoid asking questions that can be answered by online research, and to avoid wasting the contractors' time and patience.  It is recommended that each team select a spokesperson, who is able to relate well with energy contractors and other professionals.

The primary objective is to offer training in energy and engineering by hands-on and mentoring, which cannot be obtained in the classrooms.  The abilities and differents skill levels of students/volunteers is considered when giving out any assignments.  The skill levels of participants are expected to range from advanced, with high aptitude to persons with disabilities, who need training or retraining...there is no time limits on training.   If it takes a person several months or years to accomplish the project goals, there are no penalties or deadlines, except what a person sets for themselves.  A person can enter the team or leave the team at any time.  Training is complete when the volunteers are successfully employed in a company that values their newly acquired skills. Some of the teams will start their own businesses and become mentors to the next generation of energy entrepreneurs.

All of the commissions generated are shared by the team; if two people work on a project by themselves, they alone can use that commisions paid for their education and vocational training needs.  The commisions paid on these projects can be rather substantial; we do not charge the students for the training.

Our secondary objective is to promote and develop energy-wise communities; where production is more important than our ability to consume, and young people are asked to help solve local problems, by searching the globe for solutions.  Alternatives in energy promote alternatives in problem solving and skill development.

We spoke with Dave Culp, who is the Developer of Kite Ship, a company in Northern California that is using kites to pull ships.  They are very interested in helping us with the development of energy kites, and the energy kite contest, using videos to teach about the potential and development of High Altitude Power Generation.

Check out their site:

They have some awesome videos in their photo gallery.  Check it out.

We are now number one on Google, by searching on the words:  "Bakersfield High"  (keyword energy)  Of all the energy companies in Kern County, why is it that non-engineers, who cannot afford to go to college can figure out how to advertise energy education on Google and Yahoo?

We have had two requests for Energy Kites, by local and national companies that want to use the "Tehachapi Energy Kite" for advertising and wind testing!!  We hope to establish hundreds of chapters around the world, by posting our RE search on local hometown newsblogs wherever we find interested  companies/sponsors.

Here is the link for the Dupont Kite Fest...

An afterschool project, dedicated to the formation of engineering chapters at our local schools, dedicated to Renewable Energy Development in Kern County.  We want trade schools in every field related to local industry, and Renewable Energy promises a prosperous future in the High Desert Region, which will attract the best companies to our area.  The new growth of these industries will fuel investment in Education.  To this end, Tehachapi High-Altitude Windpower is proposing the formation of a think tank for renewable energy industrial development in this region, which we call:

The Kern Energy Education Program KEEP... is looking for businesses to sponsor local energy development chapters in their own communities.  We are based in Tehachapi CA/US, which has a long history of wind-farms development.  We are posting on energy blogs our plans to launch energy kites (kites designed to carry a small wind generator), as a means of promoting energy engineering projects through sponsoring communities across the country.  we are listed on google under the name: "Tehachapi High Wind Farms".

contact us if you are interested in a phone interview.  661-823-1463

Our interest is to promote energy education; we do not ask for money - only for materials donations from local sponsors.  We will not solicit sponsorship in areas where we do not have chapters/teams already organized.

First Stages; How to Build An Energy Kite When I stopped by the hardware store to find materials for building our Energy Kite, I looked for canvass tarps, and noticed a stack of drop cloths; the kind that painters use for floor covering while painting. After looking at what the hardware store charges for a twelve by fifteen foot drop cloth, I decided to call around to painting contractors, to find out if we could get some older, used ones to convert into kites...

I called a few painters and found some that were happy to donate old drop cloths for our energy kite; one of them talked on the phone for 45 minutes - an energy enthusiast, who has studied about Tesla experiments!! He wants to meet next week some time, and Jim promised to check out our energy blogs.

Now to set up an afternoon, on a Saturday to build a frame for our energy kite...to be continued...
