Kelsey developed a mole on his posterior.I fretted and fussed,poured over medical books,made that appointment with his Doc...Doctor just laughed at me,but said it was good to check it out anyway .  I was so relieved that I yelled out "Right answer!" to him when he said all was okay...TC folks,use that sunscreen and try not to fret too much.

I have many online friends that live in Canada.most live virtually by themselves while their husbands are off earning a living to support their real love of raising horse on 100+ acre ranches...I have come to the conclusion that for the majority ..they are not normal as far as health risks interfering with their zest for life..especially the female gender.. <(8-)

Barefoot pretty much my whole life. Alergic to sunscreen of any kind. Get body checked but don't necessarily 'worry' about it. Cousin passed from an aggressive melanoma. Mom had cancer; breast, skin, thyroid - lived to be 82!

Dont thank me..just take care of it....some times when you see the skin doc they just say no worries thats not one..and cut it off cause its fugly....so you spent all that time thinkin the worst and you didnt have too.....

I didn't have melanoma but had basal cell carcinoma.  It was a clear mole that began to weep.  The doc took our about an inch long section under my eye and it took 17 stitches.  He said it was common and was from sun damage.

I've worn sandals all my life.  As soon as it warms up you won't see me in shoes unless I'm going into rough territory so I'm probably high risk for any kind of skin cancer. 

Wear sunscreen folks !

vanity dont procrastinate..Ive had them too and since my father passed the whole fa,ily takes em serious..my brother had one on his arm another long scar..and his daughter...shes in her 20's..Once i get them removed its like a cloud has lifted..all that worry isnt good for you..We told my dad to have his checked for almost a year prior..he kept treating it himself..all he could say near the end was he screwed up..

dgrealish.. some of them old boys were supermen..pop was from that era..he was a general foreman so I got to know alot of the older guys on the crews..he would stick us younger guys with em to train..I remember one old line man that would take off walkin a pole line with a rope.. bucket ... and a hand crank drill that ran by shear muscle,,,he was a one man crew..now they have bucket trucks grunts to work the lines and send up power tools...two guys on a pole etc...to do the same job he did..Pop and those guys never had an inch of fat on em.....

Ill never forget the night he passed I put my hand up to his to see how I measured up..his fingers were still a half inch longer than mine..tuff as nails ?? you bet

I had a melanoma removed from my ankle in September.  Now every mole I see looks suspicious.  Not just my own, I see them on other people too.  The upper torso is the most common place for melanoma to appear on men.  I'm sorry about your pop.  Those guys were tough as nails. 

My father died from melanoma cancer in '02...started on his upper arm ..they cut a slice from shoulder to mid forearm..

went to his colon ..they cut half of that out too....and then his brain..3 inoperable tumors and he didnt respond to radiation..passed at home in his livingrom with us sleepin on aero beds by his hospital bed..

too many years workin in the oil fields as an electrician.he was old school...I cant recall ever seeing him with his long sleeved shirt off my whole life..he always rolled the sleeves up to his elbows..I know he wasnt a sun worshipper so just over exposure to the sun is kind of a myth in my opinion..I mean I know it gets you a better than average chance of developing it but his case proved to me simply covering up wont always stop it from occuring

The lower leg is the most common place for melanoma to appear on women, so I'm not surprised.
