Today's color is Purple in the Spring EXPLOSION!

When I was younger, it use to make me sick *gag* when my mother would fawn all over the spring flowers.  Now look at me, I'm doing the same thing and now my kids are rolling their eyes at me.

You get to a more comfortable spot in life where you can really slow down and enjoy the beauty of them before they disappear into the hot summer.  The world seemed to be spinning faster when I was in my 20's and 30's.  You didn't have time to slow down, there was always something more pressing.

My mother is British, and I remember her singing "Raindrops on Roses" ala Julie Andrews, when I was a tot.  And now she's getting older and finding it more hard to plant the extravagant gardens she once did. (She lives in TX, so I can't help her there, nor would I, but I digress... )

So now I go around the neighborhood and just enjoy other peoples gardens. Being a stay at home mom doesn't afford me the pleasure of buying my own.  And that's OK, because,  I'm witnessing two girls bloom into something more beautiful than any flower.

It's all about priorities and choices.

When i was younger before K. was born plants were my life, now if i have to bend over too much or it gets too hot my enthusiasm wanes.. but every once in a while something rises out of my yard that defies lack of care and is astounding in its beauty.watch all that blooms my friends for in days or years it will pass and memory will be whats left~ thats why flowers are special for me, they represent life.

I'd like to take that step farther sagefever, flowers represent renewal of life. Hope springs eternal!

Lovely profile Woof. I'm curious as to what kind of doggy you are; I have a little chocolate/apricot colored baby that looks like you. I was told she was a chocolate lab when I got her, but that is definitely not what she is. Someone told me she looked alot like a mini labradoodle. Anyway, I'm a major flower dork. I've loved flowers ever since I was a little kid. Pansys were and still are my faves; I used to call them face flowers. Also, another fave, Lilly of the Valley grew everywhere divinely stinking up the place. I tried to grow some when I was in Tehachapi with no luck, and I've had no luck growing it here in Ventura, but every year I try. Playing in the garden is something I really live for. My garden isn't great, and it's mostly in pots, but I love it. Bulbs are a blast. You take something that looks like a little terd, an "earth terd" , and the most lovely thing evolves from it. I just had an Iris, similar to the one in your photo, burst open yesterday. The gladiolas are insanely tall, and the lillium is just now starting to peak out of the dirt. I didn't have any luck with my tulips and daffodills this year, as I think I planted them too late. I like to keep them in the pots, or ground, rather than pluck them and vase them. To me, vased flowers are MURDER.

Coochee, I'm with you, and you are of my generation, just for the words "dork" & "terd" thank you for that.....AND IT IS Murder to have vased flowers....it really depresses me to see them die....wah!

Correct, renewal is a better term.  I should have said to me they represent all the cycles of life, birth ,death, and the start all over again~all aspects are beautiful to me.
