Date:  Wednesday, March 11, 2009 Time:  10:39:23 AM Department Contact: Drake Massey Details:LAMONT DEPUTIES ARREST SUSPECTED GANG MEMBER FOR DRIVEBY SHOOTING ON NEW YEAR'S DAY On March 10, 2009 Kern County Sheriff's Office Lamont Deputies served an arrest and search warrants at 7808 Kearney Avenue, Lamont, involving an ongoing investigation into a driveby shooting on January 1, 2009.  Javier Lopez, 22 years old, was arrested and charged with the shooting.  On January 1, 2009 Lamont deputies responded to the 11400 Block of Pierce Street, Lamont, regarding a driveby shooting.  Deputies found a Hispanic male adult victim, Charles Mexicano, 22 years old, suffering from a gunshot wound.  The victim was transported to the hospital and survived his wounds.  Javier Lopez was charged with attempted murder, shooting at an inhabited dwelling, assault with a deadly weapon, felon in possession of a firearm and participation in a criminal street gang.
