I don't know witters, when I was a little boy my female cousins played "dress up" with adult shoes, dresses and make-up. That was over 40 years ago. I may be wrong but I don't see much difference.

ANGLO: The dress up we "played" 40 years ago is totally different then what is being proposed now. We didn't go to the mall to get a "makeover" and when we "played dress up" it was at home and we didn't go to school or even out in public BECAUSE it was "play". This situation is not a "play" thing. Have you seen some of these kids at school lately? They wear make up! I didn't allow my daughter to wear make up until she was 15 and she didn't date until she was 16. The first time she tried make up she came out of the bathroom looking like a union ave hooker! We sent her back to the bathroom to remove 3/4 of the junk. We got her books on the proper way to apply makeup and everything was good to go after that. She also did not get out the door wearing clothing fit for a tramp.

I never had much of a problem of my girl looking like a hooker. Some of her fashion tastes got wild. She once hit me for $20 (before her mom got it. Between wife & daughter, I stay broke like a tramp. Might as well get mugged in an ally) and went "clothes shopping" with a friend. They hit the thrift stores.

Seems like people are very quick to judge a place like this, just because they're offering makeovers doesn't mean that the girls are going to come out looking like hookers. It seems like a fun place for girls to go, what little girl doesn't like glitter and princess clothes. Seems to me that if someone's daughter is looking like a hooker, that's a parenting issue, not caused by a new store.

We raised a daughter and so I know how they like to dress up at home. That was about 25 years ago. I think this is just a modern version of that. It is still up to the parents to make this a play thing and not an everyday or school day activity. I may not understand exactly what they are doing at this business but it still looks innocent to me. When I was young we played with plastic army men and sticks were guns. Now kids have first person shooter video games and paintball theaters to have fun. It is up to the parent to make sure they know it's for fun and not real world. My wife worked in security at the KHSD for years and knows all to well about the girls that would leave home dressed appropriately and as soon as they get to school the make-up comes out and the skirts are rolled up. They need to be taught when and if things are acceptable and when they are not.

I think the leap to potential hookers may be a little extreme. Just a little.

Anglo1, glad to see someone else doesn't see this as a bad thing. I'll be taking my daughter for sure! This is something she would love, but she knows she can't wear that stuff to school. She's in dance and they have to wear heavy makeup when they perform, and again, she knows that is just for the show and nowhere else.

I think this is being misunderstood. The girls are not made up to look like hookers. My daughter has been to Club Libby Lu's in Anaheim twice, and it's a very fun treat for girls. They do sell dress up clothes, glittery lotions, and other girly things. It's for the the girly-girl for sure.
