Witters, I was about to type in the same thing. I feel like I'm in a time warp or something. The ones I grew up with and grew through life with are aging fast (unlike me) and dying off. When the kids talk about this or that actor, I don't know most of them. I rarely go to movies and don't watch a lot of them on TV so I'm really out of the loop.

And yes..the list includes Gale and billy. We went through the first three of Ed McMahon, Farrah and Michael. The Billy, Gale and now Karl. Ooops..thats two sets of three. Are there more I missed? I know someone mentioned one I didn't know. I also saw thet ahte lead singer for The Ventures died. I loved that group and probably still have one of their 33 1.3 albums in th egarage somewhere....wonder how many of the young'uns know about them.

Malden portrayed General Omar N Bradley in one of my all time favorite movies, Patton. He was awesome!

As far as huge actors today, sioux, I disagree. We have Robert DiNiro, Al Pacino, Robert Duvall, Jack Nicholson, Meryl Streep, Tom Hanks, Jodie Foster, Anthony Hopkins..Certainly none of then B actors, we just don't see them on the cover of People or on E! TV and they're not doing a film every nine months like Will Ferrell and Jack Black, who will ALWAYS be B actors.

They did a nice segment on Karl Maulden on the News Hour last night. I loved him as Blanche's suitor in "Streetcar Named Desire" . Here is his IMDb page,he deserves to remembered for more than one movie.

There are really great actors still~ as Moto says they just don't subject themselves to magazine covers. Denzel Washington, Tommy Lee Jones, Will Smith, Brad Pitt, Richard Jenkins and George Clooney can be added to that list~ there are many,many more.

I agree, Sage, about his role in "Streetcar Named Desire." It was awesome!!! All of the acting in that movie was awesome, but his, especially was awesome. One of my all-time favorite movies. Karl Malden will be fondly remembered.

thanks moto i missed them..cept Tom Hanks.Used to love him..then he got into political discussions when he shoulda kept his mouth shut..now not so much..

sage tossed in a couple goodiies too..ahhh lifes getting brighter..i guess its all this death crap thats been hanging around here latley...lost mom.. actors droppin puppy died ran over kids favorite kitten the other day cause he was hiding under my tire..I shooed him out but he ran back under when we started moving the car..its like 3 or 4 tmes a week over the past 2 months something drops dead..starting to wear on us..time for a break....

Did you know that Nevada Smith was a prequel to The Carpetbaggers which was loosely based on the life of Howard Hughes?

Malden also played with McQueen in The Cincinnati Kid.

I don't think I ever saw Malden in anything I didn't like. He was great.
