I know that most of you probably have never heard of CHUCK BALDWIN before, so I encourage you to look him up online and learn more. He's the most American candidate we have.  We need to remind the Republicrats that we the people are not bound to two political parties.  We are bound to our principles. This reminds me of his denial to reject Rev. Wright.  It wasn't an issue until it started to make him look really bad, and then he threw Wright out the door. Obama originally said that he wouldn't wear a flag pin because he doesn't need to show of an American flag to prove he's patriotic.  And now, he always pins one on and has flags around him.  Why?  I thought it wasn't important.  Well, it turns out it was to the people, so now he changed. Can't you Obama supporters see that this guy only does what he thinks people want to see and hear?  Can you not see this? McCain has flopped around a little like this, but my beef with McCain is his support for absolutely unconstitutional items.  His restriction of free speech through McCain-Feingold.  He consistently supports legislation that infringes on our 2nd amendment rights.  People don't really catch on to this because it is very subtle. McCain pushed for that comprehensive immigration plan that would have put illegal immigrants on a special path to citizenship.  When asked about it now, he doesn't deny that he would try it again.  Instead, he dodges the issue by saying something like, well the people would never let it get to my desk.  Well...Mr. McCain, how about an answer to the question. You see McCain & Obama are the poorest choices for our country that we have had in a long time.  But when you really sit down, and get honest with yourself, you know these guys are full of crap.  You know that they support un-American (unconstitutional) legislation and that they throw around crap hoping that it will impress the voters. Well, I am not voting for either one of these guys.  I will vote for a good choice.  I will cast my vote for CHUCK BALDWIN (Constitution/American Independent Party). By voting for CHUCK BALDWIN, I am not indirectly helping out Obama or McCain.  You see, voting isn't a time to vote because you don't want the other guy to win.  Voting is when you are casting your ballot for what you want.  You vote FOR something.  If you cast your vote for McCain, you are not voting against Obama.  You just marked down that you want McCain.  And thesame thing goes when you vote for Obama.  Don't trick yourself into thinking you are voting against someone.  You are the one that marked McCain for President, or Obama for President.  You didn't mark McCain not for president. This year, let's vote for something, like we should always be doing.  We don't vote for the lesser evil when we have a good choice.  CHUCK BALDWIN is a good choice.  So why would we not vote for him?  Get to know him.  Do a little research, and cast a real vote in November.  If you need to, write CHUCK BALDWIN in if he isn't listed. It seems like the 1st Amendment protects the press.  Now, despite my distrust of the press you have to admit that there is freedom of the press in this country.  That's what the constitution supposedly set up for us.  And it's easy to see why that's important. So why can Ms. Pelosi order the press out of the buidling?  Why does she get to leave everyone talking in a dark room.  And the topic of discussion?...oil drilling.  Now, gas prices have come down a bit, but they are still above $4 a gallon.  We are paying up the yin yang for gas.  And Pelosi has the nerve to shut everything down and end the discussion on something that could help lower our gas prices? I wish people would stand up and speak out on this.  I've seen this trend happen at the government level for years now.  And I have even seen it trickle down into our local politics.  WE NEED TO REMIND OUR GOVERNMENT REPRESENTATIVES THAT THE PEOPLE ARE THEIR BOSS.  WE ARE IN CHARGE.  WE HAVE TRUSTED THEM TO MAKE THE BEST DECISIONS FOR US...THE PEOPLE.  So why end the discussion on something that will make us better off?  Because you have a vacation to start?  Let's get real here. If we don't see a change from Ms. Pelosi, I hope that we will all help her get voted out at the next election.  We need to do this with all the government scumbags who believe they are all powerful.  If in California, we need to work on recalls.  If they are in the federal system we need to observe them closely for impeachment, or work to get them voted out. I am appalled to see the same arguments being made for us to engage Iran as were made to enter Iraq.  Am I the only one who sees the problem here? Our courts are becoming increasingly activist.  I am pleased, however, to see the most recent U.S. Supreme Court rulings.  But here in California we have a major problem with judges who overstep their duties. The democrats' policies are putting us on a path to socialism.  The republicans policies are moving us toward fascism.  This is outrageous!  What happened to our republic?  We are supposed to be free here.  Does anyone remember what FREEDOM is?  We need to remember.  We need to remember now. Lois Henry seems to think this pretty much sums up our Independence Day celebration.  Lois, have you seen how the community comes together to light fireworks together?  Haven't you noticed that no one lights fireworks throughout the year unless it is the 4th or maybe New Years?  People view this as a celebration.  Sure, it's a great time for a bbq, beer, and family get togethers.  And maybe remembering the birth of our nation is not always mentioned, but we come together to celebrate nonetheless. The fact of the matter is that Ms. Barnett reports to the people.  She is an elected official.  Just like Ken Weir must report to the people.  I have been urging for the recall of Ken Weir, but I am not sure about recalling Ann Barnett just yet. Ms. Barnett can decide to do her job or not.  The bottom line is that if it doesn't meet the expectations of the people (her boss), then she should be fired.  Although she has been somewhat quiet on the issue, I feel that she should not be recalled.  I support her decision.  There are numerous other ways for couples to get married.  The alternatives do not have to be more expensive, and in all reality they are not. However, if the people conclude that Ms. Barnett has not acted according to her 'contract' with the people, then she should be fired.  If the people have a problem with her job performance then they need to get the recall going and let the people vote.  That is one recall petition that I will not sign. During the time I've waited for the petition, I have had a chance to learn more about Mr. Weir.  I have listened to both sides.  Mr. Weir is my city councilman, so I have thought about what I expect from my public officials.  And, as many of you know, I expect a lot from them.  Most importantly, I expect them to always act in public.  I should never have to feel that they are hiding something. Ken Weir has more than once made me wonder if I can trust him.  It is so important for us to always remember that each of our public officials (no matter what position they hold) is my representative.  In order for me to be an informed voter I need to see exactly how they are conducting their affairs. Mr. Weir's tendency to keep information from the public, and his delayed explanations, have tarnished his reputation.  I demand public openness from my public officials. I encourage everyone who reads this blog to sign, and encourage their friends to sign, the petition to recall Ken Weir.  It is time to remind all our public officials that we demand that they represent us.  And it is time to remind all our public officials that we the people are who they report to, not the other way around. Thompson Wrong Choice http://people.bakersfield.com/home/Blog/ThatBonnyLoon/27261 http://people.bakersfield.com/home/Blog/ThatBonnyLoon/27261 The race between Thompson and Watson has been very interesting.  It is almost hard to believe that the “challenger” (Thompson) even has a chance.  I was reading an article posted earlier this month entitled “Supervisor candidate now fighting with ideas, not fists.”  The opening line of this article cracked me up: “Cliff Thompson is a fighter.  When he was younger, his fights were the kind you settled with fists.” <o:p> </o:p> Cliff Thompson is 57 years old.  10 years ago he settled a fight with fists.  That means he was 47 years old.  Now technically that happened when he was younger, but this is still an adult.  It was humorous to see the author of this story try and get his readers to believe that Cliff Thompson was just an immature young man when he was doing his fighting. <o:p> </o:p> When Cliff Thompson released his arrest record, he made it an important note to say “The above cases of one through eight cases were dismissed or expunged in the course of administrative justice and in the eyes of the law, and I was found not guilty.”  I love that he can’t seem to bring himself to say he was innocent.  This guy did what those charges reported; he just got out of the legal guilt aspect of them. <o:p> </o:p> The article also mentions one of Thompson’s endorsements: Dean Florez.  I still find it hard to believe that anyone takes Florez seriously.  He is a worthless state senator.  Anyone could drive around pointing out all the problems of the world.  And I’ll give Florez that much.  But I want my representatives to be fixing those problems.  Florez calls out the problems and then disappears.  He seems to care, but then he moves on.  His endorsement of Cliff Thompson makes me want to run to vote for Ray Watson. <o:p> </o:p> The article also mentions Thompson’s criticisms of incumbent Ray Watson.  The article states that “roads, air quality and public safety” are Thompson’s top issues.  Well, anyone who has had Watson or one of his volunteers knock on their door also knows these are Watson’s top issues.  So Thompson still has not distinguished himself from Watson except for visiting the outlying areas of the district.  It is important to get around to see the people.  But I must admit that you must do what works.  Watson was recently asked for his appointment book, and we quickly see his determination to get things done.  He does this through meetings mostly in <st1:city w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Bakersfield</st1:place></st1:city>.  I don’t care if he has the meetings in Taft, Frazier Park, or <st1:city w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Bakersfield</st1:place></st1:city>.  As long as he is working for results, I’m behind him. <o:p> </o:p> Thompson has not distinguished himself from Watson enough to gain my support.  In addition, Thompson has questionable character and a meaningless endorsement from a politician just looking for attention.  So we see that Cliff Thompson is not the candidate we need to replace Ray Watson.  Until a better candidate comes along, we need to be supporting Ray Watson for supervisor.
