I have to say I'm impressed the genius of Publican, one of our newer posters here. His understanding of Presidential Politics is greater than mine and in an objective test, I was roundly beaten. I am both impressed and humbled by his presence here and can only hope he'll spend more time with us so that I may better learn.
Thank you, sir, for your time and patience.

Tony... My reasoning for the comment above is that Tom doesn't call names (that I've seen anyway) and even though poles apart from the right, he is generally courteous.
Having said that, and posted it, I went to another blog where he chastised Chico, subtley but chastized none the less, and I thought "uh oh Tom, don't make a liar out of me. LOL
My point is there aren't many of us on here who haven't outright called people idiots or some other fun little name but I haven't seen Tom do that. I also haven't seem many of us publically admit we were way off the mark and cede victory to the other side.
I thought it was good will ambassodorish.
I just calls 'em as I see's 'em. And you my friend, are one of the brighter posters on board. (again, no offense to the rest of the posters.

I didn't take any offens. I just know that Tom gets nasty with people just like Mattloch. All it takes is to disagree with him on something. I've now been drivin to the point where I care nothing for his opinion on anything. He holds absolutely no credibility with me. I'm very disappointed in this, but it is what it is.

My condolences, Tom. Get well soon.
I, too, was recently "tested" in absentia by the Pubster and was informed that I "failed" despite the fact that it was administered in his mind with no participation on my part.
According to his imagined results, my failure proved I am "anti-American."
I hope you got a better deal.
I mean, being a leftist leaner and all, you too could also easily be deemed traitorous.

Tom sagely...

Tom sagely suggests: "Saber, don't know the circumstances of your debate with Publican, but he's been pretty fair with me. We all have bad days though. You might want to give him another chance."
Sure, no problem.
Who knows? Maybe he'll apologize for calling my patriotism to question among the dozens of other personal insults.
Should that occur, I will, of course, forgive him. I'm a softie for genuine contrition.
It is entirely possible that perhaps his hostile public castigation is just an unfortunate and unmeant act illustrating the penchant of bloggers to sometimes stray from logic to mete verbal punishment of their perceived enemies for some unknown, undefined sin or another.
But I'm really not expecting to hear that he will have had an epiphany.
The last I heard from Pub he was quite reminiscent of the very bellicose James Carville defending the use of plays out of Carl Rove's tactical manual saying he had "no humility" and would continue such savagery giving "as good as he gets."
Carville's recent slam of Bill Richardson as a "Judas Iscariot taking the proverbial 30 pieces of silver" best illustrates the questionable tactic.
I would argue that Carville's stubborn refusal to refute the civility of his attack didn't help Carville's credibility factor nor would that same sort of behavior raise Pub's general likability quotient.
I doubt that Pub cares a whit, but the fact is, his rancorous tactic of using personal denigration to diminish the substance of an opponent's views is largely what lies at the core of our opposing fundamental philosophical and political differences.
So, although an apology would be welcomed, again I don't expect it and it's really no big deal. I don't really take that sort of stuff all that seriously.
I still sometimes like to hear Carville's snarling and watch his glowering visage as rips new rectums for his foes. And the insults hPubster hurls are often quite amusing, especially when accompanied by a smiley faced emoticon.
