As they (TBC) have in the past, they will just blame it on the economy and the need to outsource such work after laying off at least two dozen employees. And they (and all other employers in California) will continue to cut operations, outsource, and eventually go out of business or relocate to a more business-friendly climate.

I still wonder why seemingly educated people don't get this whole tax and spend issue.

Vanityfair, I truly believe it is the economy, they are a private corporation (family owned) and outsourcing everything they can. But what's the solution? When you can read the news online the moment it breaks (via internet) it's gotta be hard to keep a print newspaper afloat. TBC has never had a wealth of money, it's always been a budget breaker, but what's the solution?

I really think that If TBC had a more moderate editorial board the circulation would be better. Any publication that supports a 14 year old child to have a medical procedure (and I don't care WHAT it is) without parental consent is nothing more than a Marxist vehicle. I could go on about my opinions, but no need to bore you all.

As far as TBC having enough money ... they have more than enough assets. They're just acting like "republicans" now.

(Edit : repeat of 11:00 pm edit ... sorry. My intent was not to hijack a blog ... I'm just really annoyed at everyone's ability to complain (free speech) but no tools to fix it other than voting in or out the worthless stand-ins who are in it only for themselves. And it's the insurance companies who rule this country. Whew!! Sorry.

Republicans? HA! TBC's editorial board is nothing but Democrats! The only money they have is old, and it's being used to keep the newspaper alive.

But back to the paper, I like my routine, get up, get my Dr. Pepper and smokes, take the paper outside and sit on the patio and read it. But if it's so illegible that I can't read it, why bother???

I like the size, it's easier to hold and read. As long as they don't screw iwth the crossword puzzles like they did two Sundays ago, we'll get along fine.

You know Nancy, I like it too. When I read all the complaints to Jenner which were printed in the paper, I was surprised. I must admit though that the want ads are a little harder to read.

Audrey, when I saw the first smaller one I immediately thought of the British comedy Keeping Up Appearances. The lead is a real snob. A lower middle class who believes she is upper class and gets into all kinds of Lucy situations. On one episode she and her long suffering husband are staying at a post resort for the weekend and she goes around la ti dahing it when she happened on a couple reading the newspaper. She got into this discourse on how one must keep up and how good it was to see then NOT reading those "small newspapers." (apparently tabloids) When TBC went to the small version I cracked up and thought, well, now Hyacinth wouldn't approve at all.

The first Sunday one of the two crossword puzzles was so tiny you needed a magnifying glass to work it, and then one day the clues were on the bottom and it was long an skinny. You couldn't see the clues because your hand and arm were over them. I read once that when a paper messes up the most complaints they get are about the crossword puzzles.

They're safe now though, they went back to the old size for them. I hadn't noticed the classified as I rarely read them anyway. You know how we are, we only holler when we're the one that's "bit."

I loved Keeping Up Appearances. Especially the episodes where Hyacinth tried to keep her sisters, brother in law and dad hidden from people she was trying to impress.

There was a special on PBS with the guy who played Anslo narrating it. They did it in segmants such as Daisy always trying to get Anslo in a romantic mood when he was never interested. Others were dealing with "Father" or "Daddy" as Hyacinth called him. Others with Rose's love life. That was a really good special. It was on one of those fund raising nights where he also pitched for donations. He is sooo different out of character.

It hasn't been on the last couple of weeks but I faithfully look for it. The other I love is As Time Goes By with Dame Judy Dench. GREAT show.

Those are the same ones I watch~ even the reruns. I miss Rosemary & Thyme ~ at least thats what I think it was called. Love Waiting for God.
