 clintons.jpg AP Honky-tonk Hero (new edition): Today we say good-bye to Vern Hoover, Trout's owner http://people.bakersfield.com/home/Blog/blognroll/32493 http://people.bakersfield.com/home/Blog/blognroll/32493 <p>When I first learned that Vern Hoover, local owner of Trout's Nightclub and Blackboard Stages, had passed away, I wrote a song called It's Rainin' at this Honky-tonk. &nbsp;I pretty much left that song the way.&nbsp;</p> <p>But I've been working on a second song, one that focuses specially on Vern's legacy.</p> <p>I'm not the most polished musician in town, and I'm a novice at the soundboard.&nbsp; But I've worked hard to come up with a song that does justice to this <em>Honky-tonk Hero.&nbsp;</em> I wasn't happy with the first version.&nbsp; I wasn't happy with the second. &nbsp;This is the third.&nbsp; The lyrics have been changed and so has the melody.&nbsp;</p> <p>This one is closer to what I was trying to accomplish, but I still need to go back and fix some stuff on the vocal tracks, and make the recording a bit tighter.&nbsp;</p> <p>I&nbsp;apologize to the underground fans that <em>Bakersfield Sound Underground</em> is temporarily unavailable.&nbsp;
