After-prom party athletic suspensions for alchol use - Eye of Bakersfield - eyeofbakersfield's Blog - Bakersfield.com

We're still working on the story about the after-prom party attended by Bakersfield High School students in Stockdale Estates where some athletes were suspended for drinking alcohol and police are investigating allegations of a sexual assault.

The party was held May 12 at the home of a student whose parents were out of town.

Two things:

I have no sympathy for student athletes who were suspended from participating in sports for nine weeks. They all know the rules. If they break them and get caught, consider it an important lesson learned. I applaud the schools for enforcing the rule.

Secondly, it's just not a good idea for parents to be out of town on prom night. I'm not saying these parents knew anything about this party, but prom night in today's society is a night for parental supervision and involvement.

Our news pages will update this story as more information becomes available.

They should all thank whatever god they worship none of them ended up like these students:

A senior class trip to the beach took a tragic turn yesterday when three students from Perris High School in Riverside County were killed and another critically injured in a high-speed crash involving alcohol, authorities said.

"This is a pretty horrendous crash. This didn't have to happen,” CHP Officer Tom Kerns said. “High speed was involved and they were drinking. That's a bad combination.”

One witness told officers that the Integra driver lost control while racing another car, possibly a newer black Acura with tinted windows, black rims and a modified exhaust pipe, Kerns said.

Open cans of beer were found in and around the wreckage. The teens had one large case of beer and a 12-pack with them, Kerns said.

Enough is Enough with the Kern County High School Athletes ignoring the district rules on drugs and alcohol. Lets drug test all of these athletes and see what happens? As a parent, I am sick and tired of my drug free child (yes he was tested for his job) coming home and telling me stories of parties where drugs and alcohol are freely available. The KHSD should be applauded for taking a firm stance and I hope its just the beginning in enforcing the rules that are already in place.

Texas just passed mandatory laws for steroid testing of high school athletes. Maybe California needs to look at the same.
Steve- If these kids were adults (age 18 or over) lets publish their names. I would be curious to know who cares less about their child having or attending a party of this magnitude.

There are also many Garces HS kids who live in Stockdale Estates as well. and they have had some big time parties. Garces hides this since their parents are big donors.

Maybe the BHS athletes will transfer to Garces now.
