Reverend Dollar reminds me of the guy on the curb, pandering for money, whose sign doesn't say anything about being a veteran, or being homeless, it just says "Why lie, I need beer money". Refreshing, but the motive is still the same.

But.....Jesus probably would want you to give a guy a break on the corner, even to self medicate himself, before you install that air conditioning system in your dog's house.

27 community and for his many contributions to the welfare of

If Pat professes to hate homosexuals, why did he own the "Ice Capades"?
Ahhhhh.....must be because Jesus told him wealth takes precedent over values, and although he hates gays....hey...everybody has a right to eat. He's just doing his part to support the sinners.

Of course he wasn't wealthy. They would have never nailed a rich man to the cross. :-)

Sarcasm (or is it?) aside, I highly doubt Jesus was a rich man. In one of many interpretations of who he actually was he wandered around spreading the word of love to people. The whole idea of him wearing "clothes so expensive..." sorta contradicts the message. Although, I'm sure he was spiritually fulfilled (rich) because he was willing to endure a humiliating, excruciating death of which he endured alone forsaken by his God.

Sounds like Rev. Dollar is just trying to justify his own greed by exploiting the message of Jesus.

Jesus was poor and unattractive to the world. If He was rich, how might we be saved? He was the perfect man, the exact representation of God, (Hebrews 1:3 ) and had not a care about money. He was the Son of God! He lived destitute, with not a place to lay His head. He experienced all what we experience (or are able to experience). No one can claim God does not know what their life is like. He is able to comfort all in all sufferings.

2 Corinthians 8:9: "For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, so that you through his poverty might become rich. "

The Magi who gave Jesus gifts recognized His authority and power. They were overjoyed by Him and worshiped Him. Why would they worship Him? For they knew He was the Messiah, where they would find their salvation and a glorious hope. They gave their greatest treasures to Him, for they knew who He was. Did Jesus really concern Himself with gold, incense, and myrrh? No, this revealed His power, authority, glory, and dominion. (These gifts were given to kings, and Jesus was indeed the King of Kings. This did not mean He was rich. On earth, He was poor.)
