<title>L.A. Harbor at Bakersfield College - Going back to college - masonkelley&apos;s Blog - Bakersfield.com</title>
        <link>http://people.bakersfield.com/home/Blog/masonkelley/15308</link>
<description>With top teams dropping all around the Division I ranks, it will be interesting to see how the No. 1-ranked Renegades open tonight&#039;s game against L.A. Harbor. The Seahawks need some big plays early if they want to stay in this game. They are 2-0 in Western State Conference play, but the Renegades just have too many weapons.
It will be interesting to see who the &#039;Gades use as their No. 3 receiver with Dashan Miller out with a broken right arm.
Kickoff is about 10 minutes away. I&#039;ll post updates throughout the game on a cool night at Memorial Stadium.

Update:
Well &amp;mdash; so much for the Seahawks jumping on the &#039;Gades early. BC leads 14-0 with 10:24 left in the first quarter.
On BC&#039;s first drive, quarterback Jacob Bower hit Brandon Banks for 37 yards, which set up a 2-yard plunge by Pat Patterson. Bower then hit Attrail Snipes for 44 yards on the &#039;Gades&#039; next drive to set up Patterson&#039;s second score, a 10-yard touchdown.
L.A. Harbor has yet to force a BC first down.
The &#039;Gades needed just eight plays to score two touchdowns.
BC 14, Harbor 0

Update:
The Seahawks drove the ball into BC territory and decided to go for it on fourth-and-2. However, Dustin Bell broke up a pass intended for L.A. Harbor star Deryn Bowser. BC then marched down the field in four plays to score again. Patterson had runs of 12, 9 and 10 yards and Bruce Frieson scored from 47 yards out.
BC 21, Harbor 0

Update:
The first quarter is over and BC just scored again. Bower hit Snipes from 25 yards out. The &#039;Gades still have not been forced to convert a third down in part because Bower is 6-for-6. On the last drive, he went 3-for-3 with passes of 26, 14 and 25 yards.
Four drives, four touchdowns.
BC 28, Harbor 0

Update:
Well, L.A. Harbor scored its first touchdown of the game. But BC answered. Four plays, four rushed and a Patterson touchdown. The 5-yard score is his third of the game. The Seahawks still haven&#039;t forced a third down.
BC 35, Harbor 7

Update:
At halftime BC continues to have a comfortable lead. The Seahawks did kick a 33-yard field goal to end the half after a long drive that chewed up a bulk of the second quarter. However, the &#039;Gades have dominated much of the game. Bower finally threw an incomplete pass and, guess what, it came on third down, BC&#039;s only third down of the first half.
BC 35, Harbor 10

Update:
The fourth quarter just started and BC kept Harbor out of the end zone. Running back Justin Jackson has both second-half scores for BC with touchdown runs of 5 and 1 yards. This will be the last post before the game ends. I&#039;m heading down to watch the fourth quarter from sideline.
BC 49, Harbor 10

Final update:
When it comes down to it, BC took care of business Saturday. Sure, the &#039;Gades were sloppy at times in the second half, but it&#039;s hard to maintain focus in a rout. The offense was as good as it&#039;s been all year and the defense made plays &amp;mdash; it&#039;s always nice to see a defensive lineman get an interception.
The &#039;Gades get a bye next week, which comes at a good time. It gives players time to nurse bumps and bruises before BC heads to Canyons on Oct. 13.

                <title>Sep 30, 2007 at 12:09 PM : The wackiness in D-1...</title>
<description>The wackiness in D-1 football has transcended over to the juco ranks. As of today, the four remaining unbeaten teams in Southern California are BC, which was expected, but also Antelope Valley, College of the Desert, and Pasadena, all who have been doormats for the last several seasons. Grossmont, a power over the last 7 years, has only won one game. College of the Canyons, who has developed into the main rival for Bakersfield, went 5-5 last season in a coaching transition, but are starting to get back to their old form. They have a good offense, but I don&#039;t think they have the defense to beat Bakersfield. But, these games are settled on the field, and the Renegades won&#039;t take them lightly. A rematch with Elco in the socal final is the most logical scenario, but Saddleback has a team that can throw a monkey wrench into that dream matchup. Pasadena made a huge statement also yesterday when they totally devestated a strong Palomar team.</description>
