Date:     Friday, March 14, 2008 Time:     02:20:22 Department contact:Sgt Maniord Phone: 661-392-6002 Details: On 3/8/08, Kern Co Sheriff patrol deputies and members of the Gang Suppression Unit responded to an assault with a deadly weapon on Lake St. The victim had been stabbed with an unknown type of cutting instrument. The victim was transported to KMC with moderate injuries. The Gang Suppression Unit began investigating the incident, with assistance from patrol deputies. GSU was able to identify the suspect in the case, Esteban Gutierrez, a 25 year old Hispanic male, that had fled the area. GSU checked several residences during the night but  was unable to locate Gutierrez. Yesterday afternoon, 3/13/08, with assistance of the California Department of Corrections, Parole, the Gang Suppression Unit went to Gutierrez' residence on El Serrento in Bakersfield. Gutierrez was located and arrested for the assault with a deadly weapon, a parole violation and participating in a criminal street gang. He was booked into the Central Receiving Facility.
