I don't understand why anyone would care if gay marriages are legal. Does it have any impact on your life if some one else does something that makes them happy? Your religion may not approve of gay marriages, but your religion is not the same as everyone else's. Any beliefs based on faith should not even be considered when law comes into the equation, everyone is supposed to have the freedom of religion here and that means, even as upsetting as it is to some of you, they have the freedom to have a religion different than yours.

dg, it depends on what is involved in the term "worship freely." You can't just do whatever you choose and expect to be protected under the umbrella of "worship." Any set of beliefs that places a supreme being over scientific knowledge deserves to be labeled as harmful.

The Pilgrims came here for "religious freedom" after being run out of the Netherlands after leaving England. This religious freedom was limited to those who practiced Puritanism; any who disagreed were banished, which is how the colony of Rhode Island came into being. These bigoted "Christians" were the poster children for the suppression of the enlightened mind.

It may not matter anyway. The Supreme Court set the bar pretty high--to remove the right to same-sex marriage, you pretty much have to gut the equal protection clause of the Constitution.

Actually, morals had nothing to do with the establishment of this country. If anything, our founding fathers did everything they could to make sure that the citizens had as much freedom as possible without creating anarchy.

This country was founded upon the principles of freedom and ethics, not morality. Morality is defined by the individual and is personal in nature.
