Why permit the word, “loons” in the editorial section.

Why permit the word, “loons” in the editorial section.

Who at TBC can not expect outrage at the use of the word, ‘loons’, as a descriptor of any person, whether they be conservative, centrist or liberal.

The use of this word by Jack A Ward was without a doubt hate speech. It’s intent was to invoke anger.

Of course as a community news paper I would expect you to publish opinions from all sides.

But adjectives like, ’loons’ as used by Jack in today’s editorial page, is no different than falsely shouting fire in a theater.

TBC, should not be part and parcel to inciting a riot.

Maybe I should try slipping the word, *edit*, past the editorial staff. It would feel at home in this blog with regards to the decision to print Jack’s Letter.

But of course it could never work in this critique of the staff. They have never been to fawned of criticism. ;>)

Economic rescue could cost $8.5 trillion

Economic rescue could cost $8.5 trillion

http://www.latimes.com/news/la-fi-pricetag30-2008nov30,0,5435854.story?track=rss

Reaganomics and Larry Cramer’s Free Market capitalism Just stole 8.5 trillion dollars from the taxpayer. This is in addition to the trillions of dollars stolen from IRA’s And 401K’s,

Free Market Capitalism is not Capitalism at all. Adam Smith’s Wealth of Nations. The Capitalists bible, goes into detail about how capitalism MUST be regulated. He Foretold the mess we are in. He proclaimed what is going on today was bound to happen in the absents of regulation.

Reagannomics and Today’s free market capitalism describes how the wealthy can steal from the poor. It describes a pyramid scheme where every one invest almost nothing. Invests no labor. And lives waiting on the pot at the end of the rainbow. Waiting on the promised land where the entire world lives in the ‘Ownership Society’.

Take away the piece of paper that declares those who have been running our nation , Masters, Doctors.

And What you are left with are idiots and thieves.

With 8.5 trillion dollars the taxpayer could buy every business in America. And still have the money to go on a cruise.

Some of these companies MUST be left to fail. Some of these companies. Especial those that have been manipulating the Commodities, MUST be nationalized.

It is with out a doubt that this ‘Free Market Capitalism that has been thrust upon the American public is the devil 1000 time over.

It makes Socialism appear to be saintly.

Hey Money Matters can you answer this one for me?

Hey Money Matters can you answer this one for me?

It has been said that there are about 170 troubled banks in the U.S. right now. This seems as if to be a small number compared to the number of troubled banks during the great depression.

I feel that the comparison of bank to bank is not a fair comparison.

Rather a comparison of the number of troubled bank branches now, compared to troubled bank branches during the great depression would be more informative.

The small single branch bank was much more prevalent during the Great Depression era.

In Fact single branch banks are all but non existent today.

A failure of one bank today could mean the failure of thousands of Branches and the loss of 10’s of thousands of jobs. While during the depression in may have meant the loss of 10 or 15 jobs and the closing of the doors on one store.

Obama’s birth certificate is not a forgery!!

Obama’s birth certificate is not a forgery!!

It is illegal for the Governor or anyone else for that matter, (even the Judge reviewing the Alan Keys case) to release the contents of Obama’s or anyone else’s birth record. No individual has a vested interest in knowing the contents of a birth Record. Their interest can only be in the validity and existence of the record.

My father was born in 1917 in North Dakota. His, along with thousands of other peoples birth certificates, was destroyed in a fire, For them there will never be an original birth certificate. This is not unusual. It in fact was a common experience. It didn’t’ seem to be a problem for him when he was drafted in 1941.

Obama has produced a copy of his record. And the Governor and DOH chief have both vouched for the validity of the record produced by Obama. They have repeatedly stated the record exists in the Records of the State of Hawaii.

Obama has produced a copy of his birth record. Obama could hand a embossed certified copy to Keyes and it would not stop Joe the Plumber from filing a complaint. Obama’s birth has been certified. It’s over. At least until the next frivolous case is proposed. Ask John McCain.

From the Hawaii Department of Health..

How to Apply for Certified Copies of Vital Records

All applications requesting certified copies of birth, death, marriage, and divorce certificates must generally be made in writing (application forms may be downloaded from this site - see below). Requests may also be placed for birth and marriage certificates on a limited basis through the Internet (www.ehawaiigov.org/ohsm). Telephone, FAX, or e-mail requests are not accepted.Fees for certified copies of birth, death, marriage, and divorce certificates are identical: $10.00 for the first copy of each certificate, and$4.00 for each additional copy of the same certificate ordered at the same time. There is an additional fee for requests made through the Internet as follows: $1.50 for a request of one (the first) copy of each certificate, if the requested certificate is found, or for the cost of conducting the search, if the requested certificate is not found, and$0.25 for each additional copy of the same certificate ordered at the same time. Fees may be paid by cash (except for applications made by postal mail), money order, certified check, or cashier’s check - make money order and checks payable to the State Department of Health.PERSONAL CHECKS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.Fees must be paid by a charge to a credit card for requests made through the Internet. All fees for certified copies are payable in advance and nonrefundable. If no record is found after a search is conducted, the fees are retained to cover the cost of the search.Once an order has been received and processed, a $10.00 fee will be charged for any request to make changes to the order.Apply In PersonWalk-in service is available:Effective October 13 to December 5, 2008: Days - Monday through Thursday (excluding holidays)Hours - 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.Location – Door to the left of the main entrance of the Health Department building, 1250 Punchbowl Street (corner of Beretania & Punchbowl Streets). Applications are available in this room and should be filled in before going to the counter. When applying in person, the applicant must show a valid government-issued photo ID, such as a State ID, driver's license, etc. Certified copies are usually issued while you wait when you apply in person if the record has been certified. If the certificate is not ready to be issued, certified copies will normally be available for pick-up about 10 working days after the request is approved. The pick-up time may be extended for records that are very old, because the search to locate the record may take longer, or in the process of being filed, because the official record is still being created.Apply by MailSend mail-in applications to the following address:State Department of HealthOffice of Health Status MonitoringIssuance/Vital Statistics SectionP.O. Box 3378Honolulu, HI 96801When applying by mail, the applicant must include a photocopy of his/her government-issued photo ID, such as a State ID, driver's license, etc.PERSONAL CHECKS WILL BE REJECTED AND RETURNED WITH THE APPLICATION TO THE APPLICANT.Certified copies will normally be sent out within 5-8 weeks after receipt and approval of the application. The return time may be extended for records that are very old, because the search to locate the record may take longer, or in the process of being filed, because the official record is still being created. What Information You Should Be Prepared to ProvideAn applicant/requestor must provide the information needed to 1) establish his/her direct and tangible interest in the record and 2) locate the desired record. This will normally include:Applicant's name, address, and telephone number(s);Applicant's relationship to the person named on the certificate;Reason why you are requesting the certificate;Full name(s) as listed on the certificate; The certificate’s file number (if known);Month, day, and year of the event; andCity or town and the island where the event occurred. For birth certificates, also provide the full name of the father and the full maiden name of the mother. If you are applying for a certificate on behalf of someone else, you must provide an original letter signed by that person authorizing the release of their certificate to you.Letters of VerificationLetters of verification may be issued in lieu of certified copies (HRS §338-14.3). This document verifies the existence of a birth/death/marriage/divorce certificate on file with the Department of Health and any other information that the applicant provides to be verified relating to the vital event. (For example, that a certain named individual was born on a certain date at a certain place.) The verification process will not, however, disclose information about the vital event contained within the certificate that is unknown to and not provided by the applicant in the request.Letters of verification are requested in similar fashion and using the same request forms as for certified copies. The fee for a letter of verification is $5 per letter.Application FormsApplication forms are available in a “fillable” Adobe Acrobat portable document format (PDF). The Adobe Acrobat Reader 7 (or later) is required for using the fillable forms feature.

Social Security. And it’s proposed destruction..

Social Security. And it’s proposed destruction..

Social Security is the Keystone of the current American economy.. It is the publics ability to continue to spend. That keeps all areas of the American economy afloat..

When the going gets tough.. The local market can count on the retired to spend on the 3<sup style="font-family: 'Lucida Grande', Verdana, 'Bitstream Vera Sans', 'vera sans', sans-serif; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; padding-top: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-bottom: 0px; padding-left: 0px; ">rd of the month.. The toy store can always count on the retired to spend at holidays and on the Grand kids birthdays.. To take vacations and fill up those empty rooms..

Social Security is insurance.. It is a annuity no different than any private insurance.. Except for the fact that funding for this annuity. Has not been increased in 23 years..

How many times has your Car, health or property insurance been increased in the past 23 years..

Why would anyone praise a private system of insurance that relies on annual rate increases just to hold their heads above water. Then condemn the system of social security whose rate stability can not be matched by any private insurance system. Whose performance as an annuity puts to shame the failures and criminality rampant in the private annuity market..

America is indeed facing a huge economic problem.. But it is not in the Social Security system. Rather it will be in the stock and bond market.. Politicians can argue all they want. But the Social Security loans are secured by the full faith and credit of the United states.

Could the U.S. government default on these loans? Of course. And if pigs had wings they could fly.. The reality is.. Before the U.S. defaulted on the loans to Social Security. The Stock and Bond market would collapse..

So now I have exposed the true reason for Bush’s privatization of social security.. The purpose is to cause a huge flow of money into the Stock market. Creating a false wealth.

The same false wealth that was created when the 401k’s first took off.. The infusion of new money.. Not a true investment. Rather the buying into a pyramid scheme.. The problem with this scheme is that Joe schmuck. Who is FORCED to invest his $25 dollars a week in to the market for 40 years... Is in competition with those market sharks that have no rules. No restrictions. Buying and selling at every whim.. Being sure to withdraw from the market. Just before you are set to retire. Drawing the stock market down to zero. The day before you get your gold watch..

How can America be so foolish to accept the idea that owning a piece of paper, that comes with no guarantee. Is part of a ownership society.. How can we be so foolish as to prop up a market that has become a gamble instead of a investment..

It is widely believed that 50% of Americans own stocks. That is a lie. Only ¾ of 1% of Americans actually own a stock.. Indeed 50% of Americans IN SOME WAY are invested in the stock market. But this figure includes union pension plans and the like.. If you actually hold a stock certificate. You are one of the few..

Some of the most experienced stock market analysts worked for Airline pension plans. What happened to their investments after the 2000 fall of the market. Municipal plans. What happened to them? Now wonder how you would succeed in the market and work 60 hours a week..

Bush’s plan called for a maximum investment of 1% the first year.. That means millions of Americans. That work part time or near minimum wage would be investing less than $80/year.. $7/month… $2/week… Can you now imagine your nest egg at 65 years old.. Are we all going to Paris in the summer?

If the individuals had to pay a flat 100/year fund fee. They would be in debt for the rest of their life, $20 every year.

At 100/year fund fee. The fund manager would have to support 1000 clients.. To GROSS $100 thousand a year.. How many hours of phone calls a day, per client could this manager actually handle? Not very likely..

The average 401k plan today is about $50 thousand dollars. Turn that into a lifetime annuity as will be required by Bush’s Privatization plan. And the plan combined with about $500/ month. Will pay for your health insurance..
