Bakersfield v. Taft is the oldest rivalry, btw.

It was nasty the last time they played. A mediocre BHS beat them 77-0. Alex Qualls had 6 TDs and then the Drillers got beat in a thriller by Foothill at BHS 15-13. Foothills 3rd string RB (Snow, I think his name was) ran for over 140 yards and kept BHS out of the playoffs for the first time since winning 3 titles in a row.

We really don't sell Buchanan or Liberty or Stockdale. It's about week 11. (Paul Golla)

Press clipping of the year if they win out.

Coaches in the Fresno area seem to sell themselves on the idea of winning state and get blindsided in the section playoffs (Edison, Clovis West in past years, probably Bullard this year).

Your post is another jab at persons of faith. But if it gets you all stimulated to do it, knock yourself out. One little problem, though - this story was on TMZ.com last week but was removed because there is no proof of the allegation. Nobody on either side will validate the story, and both parties are bound to silence on the legal agreement.

Actually, I love my craft room, which is a mess right now, but I can close the door, turn on the TV (NASCAR/NFL/MLB) or radio (NO phone) and "create" to my hearts content. Creating something relieves my stress 'cause I'm not thinking about anything else except the project I'm working on :-) Lots of mess but NO stress!!!!

Oh, you might mention that this blog will contain NO political/religious comments! hmmmm ok, I just did mention it for ya!!!

Cat~I would have to disagree with you about some of the women who have abortions~it really is not an agonizing decision for them and yes it is used as a casual medical procedure. I used to work in a medi-cal women's clinic doing intake. These women used abortions as birth control. 7,8,9,10 or more abortions in their histories. Now yes for some it is a tough decision but for a lot not so true. And frankly Pax is correct in one way, think about who has most of the abortions, poor black women and who has the highest welfare participation, poor black women, it is the political leaders way of keeping the welfare doles down, sad but true. No one really wants to admit we have this going on in this country so they just sweep it under the carpet.

You'll have to excuse me for not showing more patience, but the progress against this monstrosity that was allowed to fester and claim the lives of 50 million or so souls for nearly 40 years has been, quite frankly, too glacial for me.

My bad- hand to hand combat.

They could have thrown him to the ground and performed a drill 1 and 2 on him if they wanted to and permanently hurt the guy. What are they to do?

As a matter of principle, I don't want anyone hitting me, regardless of age. Combabtitives training doesn't discriminate. The taser is about one of the few techniques those Security Force personnel are taught to use as "non-lethal".

And to me, it really upsets me because the troops at Ft. Hood are deployed more than any other base.

They've deployed more because they've housed a Corps HQ (III Corps), two divisions (Ist Cav and 4th ID), and a regiment (3rd ACR). They also have a sustainment brigade that is independent of those units. They currently have the largest post. That will be changing in the near future due to BRAC. Fort Bliss will be the biggest post and have the most rotations as they are picking up 6 BCTs and 90,000 personnel.

You think PG&E is screwing (indelicate term, but accurate) its customers, talk to a few employees. PG&E has eliminated jobs to outsource them to India. An employee union is filing suit. Whether or not this legal action will prevent or delay the lay-offs which are slated to take effect the end of the month remains to be seen.

Meanwhile, local news has reported that a Bakersfield customer has filed a class action suit against PG&E related to the billing coinciding with the new meters.

PG&E has cited the economic hardships for their lay-offs and outsourcing. At the same time the CEO and execs have received a substantial raise in the millions of dollars.

Equating clinical abortions with nazi atrocities is not an accurate comparison. The immediate flaw of that logic is that it ignores the human condition that leads to terminating a pregnancy contrasted to a policy of genocide.

Few women terminate a pregnancy as a casual medical procedure. For most, it is an agonizing decision. Calling them cowards and cold-hearted animals is not my idea of Christian compassion. It's that simple.

After the Democrats had shot down a couple of dozen or so attempts to drive a stake into the heart of the foul-smelling beast that is abortion funding in the PelosiCare bill, they caved in late last night and allowed for a House vote on the only issue that has kept 40 or so pro-life Democrats from supporting the reform of health care: http://lifenews.com/nat5629.html

Now this is going to get interesting. I'm fully expecting Pelosi and many of her fellow Catholic Democrats to continue disobeying the bishops with their votes that will make it crystal clear where they really stand when it comes to abortion. They will be voting just on this single issue, with no other attachments to it that could allow them to once again weasel their way around this and make more excuses for siding with the pro-abortion folks. Should they fail to do the right thing, then I hope their bishops will do the loving thing out of concern for their eternal salvation by excommunicating their sorry asses and loudly proclaiming once more:

If the amendment passes, Henry Hyde can rest in his grave knowing that his amendment to outlaw funding of abortions lives!

Casooner, I will be the first to admit I am no economist and have a very rudimentary understanding of it. I agree that house prices are set by the consumer. With that being said, why is there a need for a tax credit to give incentives to consumers to buy a house? If the house prices were lower (less at least the value of the tax credit) or people buying them at true market value would there be a need for this?

I'm not really blaming creditors on this one. I'm probably placing fault more at the government which feels the need to keep prices of goods artificially high. If people don't buy at high prices, creditors and banks don't have the business. The free market should play itself out without the government trying to manipulate the numbers.

JF: I beg to differ (with your first sentence). House prices are set by consumer. Consumer can drive the prices up by willing to pay higher prices. This is then inflated by infusion of funny / stimulus money. Bottom line is the consumer needs to be responsible and buy a home they can affor and not a home they want to be judged by. Its all too easy to blame the creditors or the banks or the politicians, but there is only one person signing the bottom line. I do agree with your second sentence.

I did notice venom starting Thursday (my personal experience was when miles, the weatherman, threatened to give me a 'ass whoopin' - I'm still laughing over that). Then I noticed couple more 'meet you outside after school' type of posts. Then I guess all sh#t must have flown off of the handle.

The payroll department at my employer sent this out last week to all employees.

Notice to Employees
Changes in California State Income Tax Withholding
As part of the recent actions by the State of California during its budget process, beginning with wages paid in November 2009, the State will require employers to withhold additional income taxes that will result in a tax increase of 10 percent. For example, if an employee's current State tax withholding is $200, under the new State law an additional $20 will be withheld so that tax withholding will become $220. The 10% increase is not applied to any additional withholding being withheld. The rates for supplemental wages will also increase to 6.6 % and 10.23% for bonus payments. These changes will be effective through December 31, 2009.
As always, please consult a licensed tax professional for any tax questions that you may have.

The line, "These changes will be effective through December 31, 2009." makes it sound like it is only for the last two months of the year. But I guess that is naive to think in a blue state.

Patrick, to paraphrase, are you saying our kids are already in debt so piling on won't be that bad? Does this work for individuals today? A little bit of personal debt is same as big debt?

John, 10% Reagan number? Then what happens after? We are at 10.2% official unemployment and could be high as 20% counting all those that have taken on temp jobs to make end meet. The 10.2% is like the numbers during Carter administration when our parents were paying upwards of 10% interest on mortgage.

Check this out: http://tipstrategies.com/archive/geography-of-jobs/ Where will it stop and when does Obama's stimulus money kick in? How long will you drink the cool aid before it is too late and our kids are strapped with a debt they can't manage? China has stopped buying US T bills - anyone know what that means?

Next week's home game against Frontier should be a good one. Hopefully the stands will be packed and Centennial will round out its season with a win.

No offense bryan, but don't count on it! This Titan team is for real! If Stockdale had difficulties getting things moving against the Titan D-than it will be a nightmare for Centennial. Nixon should be HOPING for a defensive battle, but Frontier has plenty on offensive firepower too. I'd gauge Centennial about the middle of the pack in the SWYL.

Which brings up this point: does anyone not like the idea of this super-league next year? There seems to be an almost Grand Canyon-esque gap between the D-1 teams in both the SWYL and SEYL , and the rest of their respective packs. A legitamate threat in D-2 or D-3 might only go 3-2 or even 2-3 in league as they exist now.

Logansdad; The key phrase is "they have to get there" I seen several crashes that have been caused by ambulances running code and crashes that the ambulance itself was involved in. You have to get there to do any good and if that means slowing down, so be it....

HammeredHead, I have been in plenty of fights in my time ,but that is not relevant . Is this what you call professionals? What a low standard you set for your well being. I'm not talking about injuring someone while being taken into custody, I am talking about KILLING someone while being taken into custody! It's a homicide! That is unacceptable. I think you are mistaken, as usual, when you assume that I am against all law enforcement. There are a few topics that certain people who lack reason, logic, and intelligence should avoid discussing with others. Those topics are politics, religion and abortion, but for you HammeredHead, I would also add law enforcement to your list. That probably goes for ManLover as well.

SpellCheckMate- my old nemesis. I hope you can stay on topic this time and not be worried about if I misspelled a word. Why is it SpellCheck, that everyone who disagrees with me claims that I have no knowledge of what I am saying, yet they are the All Knowing Experts? California has some of the most rigid standards for background investigations for new hires there is. So please, tell me SpellCheckMate, What is your statement based on? And even if they are the most "rigid" standards, that does not equate them to being sufficient, it only means that the "standards" need to be revised.

Yes, Jewel, law enforcement is a sacred cow to many of our law enforcement relatives. It's like I told HammeredHead, we might as well be talking about abortion or religion. They will not see the logic or reasoning behind what people are saying. They are controlled by emotion rather than intelligence.
