Firehouse is a great place to hang out, whether you want to play some video games, shoot some pool, hang at the bar with some friends, or go out to dinner - this place has it all! Not a ton of video games but enough to keep you busy. There were a few games out of service but for the most part a nice area. I like this location because it is not to far from my house. If you're looking to shoot some pool on Friday or Saturday, make sure you show up early and reserve a table or you'll never get o...

I have been here so many times.  The food is excellent and so is the service - it is a buffet style restaurant that also offers a menu for dinners.  It used to be an American food restaurant so it still has the outdated decor and some of the booth seats are worn.  I would not ding the decor because obviously the money is being poured into keeping the food of excellent quality.  A nice variety of standard Idian dishes and I must say some very good Na'an bread.   I wi...

The name of this restaurant does a disservice to the firefighting profession.  I had a steak wrap and it tasted like I imagine shoe leather would if you put some mayo on it.  I think you should go here just for drinks.  My wife ordered a baked potato, which was cold.  We went there on a Sunday early afternoon in May 2010.  I'll never go here again for a meal.

This place has gone downhill.  Besides a week ago, I have not been here in a year.  The service is great.   The food is not.  Ordered bacon, eggs, hashbrowns.  Bacon is still superb but the eggs serving looked like it was from the child's menu and the hashbrowns were greasy and soggy without any real taste.  Overpriced as well.

This is about the service:  I walk in with my wife around noon on a Sunday in May 2010.  There was a couple ahead of us, a family seated next to the cashier stand waiting to be seated as well and we stand for at least 5 minutes.  No host or hostess, nobody minding the front.  I got tired of waiting. I decided to take my business elsewhere and walk out the door.   I'll probably never go here again.  I like to go where service is just as important as the food.

I will NEVER go to the Firehouse again!!!! I went there tonight for the first time for my friends bday and the service was horrid! + they charge an 18% gratutity fee onto your bill without telling you....let me tell you why i would not have tipped this loser a dime! He brought out a dirty glass, he didn't know any of the beers they served or the prices of anything on the menu, he brought my friend the wrong beer and didn't tell him my friend said it was a different color/taste and didn't know ...

  • Highland Cafe

Unfortunate experience for the previous poster, but I have had nothing but good experiences at the Highland. Perhaps there is more to their story than what was posted. The burgers have always been made from high-quality burger and are never overcooked. The fried green beans are a favorite with my wife, and I really like their Mac and Cheese. I have also had their Tri Tip and other assorted sandwiches--all have been good to excellent. The service is friendly and the atmosphere is laid back. I ta...

Lengthwise has a relaxed atmosphere - you go up to the counter to order and your food is brought out while you take your beer or other drink back to your table with you - so don't expect stellar, attentive service. Your table gets bussed when you're done, your food is brought out and your order is taken - functional but laid-back. The food can be really good. I've never tried the salads since a place that brews their own beer strikes me as a spot that will do better at the less-healthy kinds of...

Decent selection of beers, good crowd on the weekdays. Few rowdies, and they're asked to leave fairly promptly. Not much as a "restaurant&quo t; but a nicer place to shoot pool with adults than Corner Pocket, at least during the week.

We went on a weekday evening during basketball playoffs...they were showing some kind of car races.  I didn't mind because I don't like basketball, but I thought maybe they'd have baseball on at least.  I didn't particularly like going to the counter to order, but whatever. I ordered chicken strips and salad.  Both were forgettable.  The beer was delish, but next time I think I'll just go to BJ's.  Also, we were over charged by about $10, but didn't realize it until we h...

My party had a 6 pm reservation and were seated promptly.  Our drinks were brought right away while we looked over the menus.  The salmon was delicious, and the steak tender and flavorful.  The mashed potatoes were not the best I've had, but they were good.  The wedge salad was big enough for two, with plenty of toppings.  The waitress maybe rushed us a bit, but overall the experience was good.

My husband has been going there off and on since he was a boy and he is now a senior citizen.  He used to buy cokes there after going to the Bakersfield Plunge to swim.  He can't exactly remember when it first became a Mexican restaurant but it was a long time ago and we have seen a number of generations of this family take over. My favorite item is the shrimp tostadas off the a la carte menu.  A couple of those and a beer and you are in heaven.  All of the authentic tacos a...

In response to firehouse; I'm actually glad you responded. It just proves what a liar you really are. If my daughter had actually threw a plate like YOU said, that should have got a conviction...after all, you had her arrested. And being drunk ? My daughter was'nt charged with that. Is'nt  that something! And if court was something you don't like to waste time with, why bother having her arrested? And the police report clearly stated you had a video tape as evi...

Amazing teppan. Always delicious, great portions. The chefs are talented and only engage the patrons when they see fit to the situation. As far as chefs go, they succeed in consistently delivering high-quality, excellently prepared food. The staff is efficient and extremely courteous. Amazing food. And the ice cream, well the ice cream is the perfect ending, light, sweet and palate-cleansing.

My husband and I wonder why we were ever convinced this was a great place to eat.  I suppose because choices on this end of town are limited.  For a few years now we have come here expecting a nice dinner, but at best have been treated to bland food.  Their beer selection leaves much to be desired.  Wine is usually chosen to go along with Italian food, but after a hot summer day on the golf course, I'd like a cold beer.  I think they have been out of one variety or anoth...

Every time I come here I wonder why it took me so long to come back...then after about half an hour, when I still haven't received my drink, I remember why.  The food is usually very good, but the service is slow, and not particularly friendly.  Once I get my food, I'm generally happy again...until the bill.  I realize that going out to dinner and drinks will be costly, but this place always seems to be charging more and more for a meal that really doesn't stand out in any way.&nb...

The food here overall has never been disappointing.  Most recently I tried the swordfish, which was delicious!  The veggies were a little limp, but that's the worst I could possibly say.  Good wine selection, great staff, clean and friendly atmosphere...can't wait to go back!

  • Plumberry's

    5 stars from Veggumz

Plumberrys = YUMberrys! We recently discovered this eatery from some unflattering news reports and thought we'd give it a try, and as we hoped, it didn't disappoint! The (friendly) owner who recently acquired the business greeted us and gave us some good suggestions. We went for the pizza and some salads. The pizza was near-perfect: the crust was thick, and chewy / light on the inside and crisp on the bottom, but the red sauce was truly outstanding! And there was an ample amount of toppings. N...

The previous review must have been written by someone that just wanted to write a bad review.  Not the truth.  This food has been consistently good for the many, many years I have gone there for lunch and dinner.  I have lived here all my life, (I am now 75 years old) and have never had one bad meal.   All the food is wonderful...so please do not let the one (and one only) bad review influence you.......

Plumberry's makes a good pizza, in a town lacking in this area. However, since they were shut down due to a cockroach infestation, I can no longer recommend this restaurant.

  • Plumberry's

I think Plumberry's has really gone downhill the last few years. The pizza used to be very good; the toppings, crust, and cheeses fresh. The last few times I've eaten there, it wasn't even average. Crust didn't taste fresh and the cheese tasted lie rubber. I really hate to see this place not up the standards they once set.

Heard all this great stuff about the place, but I was totally disappointed in the quality of the food.  Have had a lot better.
