I've been shopping for baked goods at Smith's for 18 years -- originally when they were within Fike's grocery downtown. Now I use the Smith's at Green Frog on Oswell, and I think they're great. I will give you that their staff are on the rude and abrupt side. But a while back, I ordered a special cake, within plenty of time. I have shoped at Smith's for 50 years and do not know how they stay in business. The past five years prices have gone up higher than I can afford, their he;p is rude to put it mildy. The Sub Station over at California and Stockdale is the BEST!! I've been going there for over 20yrs and the sandwiches and salad bar are amazing! The service is always friendly and fast. I went to the Sub Station downtown and I have to agree with everyone else, the owner there is not very nice, and it takes forever to get your food. Not only that, the parking there is horrible!! Great Castle Chinese Restaurant
I just read the reviews on this restaurant and had to chime in. It had been several years since I had eaten at the Great Castle but remembered it to be nicely appointed and very good food. I followed Fabious' Corner from Green Acres and stop by when I'm in the area. Their ribs are great and the BBQ chicken is very tender. The pulled pork melts in your mouth and they have a nice selection of deserts, if you have room after one of those large servings! The place is "working class" and that suits me fine. The Orchid has done some remodeling of both it's interior and menu and both were impressive. They have added more booths to the dining area which gave it a more intimate feeling. I love Bj's as do my kids. We eat here often and normally have the greatest experience. However tonight was the worst dining experience I have had there. When we arrived, the bar seemed busy but the floor was practically empty yet we still waited almost 10 minutes for our table. The waitress came to our table to take our order. Been going to substation for years, always good. The oil and vinegar they put on the sandwich is addictive, love it. I don't even know who the owner is, but I've never been treated poorly here. In fact we usually cut it up a little with the people that work there. Don't hesitate to try it. It's similarly priced to other shops in town so to me it is a decent deal.

The lady that runs this place is notorious for giving tickets to individuals parked outside of her sub shop. I went into Dagny's for a bit to grab a coffee (excellent by the way), crossed the street to get a sub, and THEN noticed I had a ticket. Later I found out it was the owner of the Sub Station that called it in. RIDICULOUS. I felt ripped off after having purchased a sub from her. Like I said, the sandwich was OK, but the woman is NUTS! Because of her, I'll never go back.

If you like frozen burger patties from Costco this place is for you. Someone recommended this place to me, what a disappointment this was. My daughter and I ordered the bacon, cheese burger for $8 each, when I saw the cook reach into a bag to pull out the patty I changed my order immediately. I tried the chili, the waitress said it was homemade but it tasted like it came out of a can. After that I wasn't going to waste my money on trying the pie. Don't waste your money or time on this place

WOW! This is the type of restaurant we enjoy because of the friendly service and GREAT food. It's not the first time we visited this place and we find it to be consistantly good. I had the bacon and eggs breakfast... the bacon is the best I've had in a long while- freshly cooked and not too crispy. My eggs ordered over-medium were just right. Had dinner there last night with a group of nine. Very, very slow service. We sat there for at least 20 minutes holding our menus with no bread or salsa. We could hear cheering from the kitchen so perhaps there was a sports event somewhere. Food was average, nobody raved about anything. We have also been coming here for several years and love the food! We usually get the BBQ Beef Kabob plate with rice noodles and egg rolls. My husband and I also like to share a large bowl of their Vietnamese Wonton soup. Highly recommended.

Wonderful sushi, wonderful service. Had the Yellow Submarine (hands down, awesome) and the Rainbow Roll (all in all, delicious)! I do wish they put the description/ingredie nts for their paper menu rolls onto their hard copy menu, but the waitress was super helpful and super sweet. GO HERE!
